It’s a shame 50% of this thread is comparing a brand new car to a used ones price. Fully spec’d ST3 5 door is about 22k on drive the deal bloody good price for what you get.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before and I haven't read the whole thread but comparing new to old is moronic.

People don't tend to buy new cars outright in cash and therefore comparing actual price is a bit meaningless. Plus some people buy new for various reasons which are too obvious to repeat here.
Yes, on the majority of new car sales the cost is counted in leasing price or benefit in kind taxation. Comparing new with old under those circumstances is completely irrelevant.

I wonder what proportion of these cars are actually bought new by private buyers?

Lol at the people basically saying why would you buy a fiesta st when you can get a focus rs which is loads better.

How is a heavier car that is 4wd drive so much better than a light fwd hatchback that has handling you can actually exploit at normal speeds rather than ridiculous speeds.

These people need to drive a current gen fiesta st mk7 before they cast these opinions, ive never had a car that was more fun.

What a sad person lol.

The fiesta mk7, although classed as a cheap warm hatchback, is absolutely ridiculous fun when pushing on, roundabouts are amazing as is the crazy tail happy rear end. It sounds like this new one hasent lost that at least.

Instead of buying a new RS, people could've bought a used Maserati Quattroporte, which is 'better' by every objective measure: https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

QP is the better car. People deluding themselves that the RS is better because they can't afford it, it's as simple as that. Tragic to see but true. Why buy an RS MK3 when you can pretty much get a V8 Quattroporte for the same money now?

It's a shame that this thread had to be ruined by stupidity.

It should have been a discussion about the Fiesta ST, not a discussion about the price of a used Focus RS. I also would have a used Focus RS over a Fiesta ST, but that really is completely irrelevant to this thread.
Would be nice to see this thread back "On Topic"!

Still can't get on with the rear. I hoped it would grow on me with time, but it still looks like a slightly more angled B Max.
Yes it's a shame about the body changes to the new fiesta, the last one looked good, the new one looks just as granny-fied as every other small hatchback. Not quite as uninspiring as the focus, but getting there.

Hmm, there used to be another poster who claimed to do this. What was his name? I forget.
No idea but I know Humandoing used to do it. I wouldn't put it past HD to have created 2 accounts that speak to each other. It wouldn't surprise me if he actually didn't realise he is speaking to himself, or to one of his many personalities at least. The level of weirdness is off the scale, not that it was very far off so far. Entertaining nonetheless.

Fun is completely subjective so I don't know why you're attempting to talk with objective authority about which vehicle is better. Early reviews all seem to suggest the MK7 ST is more fun than the MK8 ST, enough of them to think it's likely to be correct (i.e. more than one bloke's opinion).

So in terms of fun, MK7 ST > MK3 RS > MK8 ST.

Also what's the point of a car you have to be on the edge to enjoy, how often are you doing that? You talk dismissively of pottering/nipping about town as if you're talking about an Aygo.
Grown man on the internet calling himself cheesy mc weezy lecturing everyone else on how they live their lives!! Classic example of someone who wants to buy new conning themselves in to thinking its better deal!

Yes. He is clearly Humandoing too. He will be back under one form or another though, or several for that matter. Does he really think we don't know ?

Ignoring all the pointless used comparisons, these look fantastic and an absolute bargain even before discount..@£19k for a cracking chassis, 200bhp, 140mph, and 6.5 to 60, what's not to like?....I really don't need one but i'm massively tempted, don't want to risk a demo!..well done Ford, again.

Weight 1,980kg (EC)
MPG 32.4
CO2 200g/km
Price TBC (CLS350d from £57,560, CLS450 from £57,660 and CLS400d from £60,460)

Sounds like it's got a lot heavier, less efficient and might treble in price?

Agreed. The reviews appear to be rolling out now and all appear to be giving it the thumbs up, unsurprisingly. Just watched Henry Catchpole's Carfection review on my lunch break.

Innit? Bonkers thread. Pages of outrage and argument based on the assumption of a £24k price.

Just ordered a new ST2 with the diff, red calipers & lumbar support for £18.6K. Check the included ST2 spec and tell me what the competition is for that money?

They're even doing sub 3% on pcp/hp.

I think you'd have to stare pretty long and hard at that dash-mounted screen to be put off buying one of these.

I've ordered one of the new ones. I'm trading in a 12 month old Polo GTi because the fiesta was more fun to drive. It's cheaper than the VW , looks good and at my age (51) I'm past caring what anybody else thinks.
