Today I'd probably go for:

Daily - Porsche Panamera Turbo
Fun - Porsche 918
Classic - Fully restored and tastefully modified 1970 Plymouth Barracuda.

Very nice. I guess I'd also take the car as well.

I'd keep our Tesla model X as the family bus.
I'd keep our Golf R Estate as the daily hack.

The third car would be a Lambo or a 911.

I love the number of people who are suggesting classics when the OP says it's brand new cars only.

Tricky one:

VW Golf GTE. Good daily, cheap running costs and a fascinating piece of technology.

911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet. Lava Orange, sports buckets and a PDK please.

MX5. Would go for the 1.5 litre in either red or white.

Sound choices. Would just switch the C4 GTS PDK cab for a C2 manual coupe.

You wouldn't as two of them are not brand new, read the OP!

Mercedes E63S Estate

Ferrari 488 Pista

Singer 911 (If this isn't allowed as it's a 'recreation' I'll settle for a 991 GT3 Touring)

Ferrari 488 Pista - something for the track
M2 Competition - weekend fun
RS6 - daily (its still available for now)
However if this is not part of the rules I will change it to 911 GT3 Touring

Why a golf and MX5 when can you have anything. I think you need to set your aspirations higher!

I suspect it's because the majority of people (myself included) could not afford to run or maintain a supercar, even if they were gifted one.

I doubt I could either but I'd take a month in a mclaren over a lifetime in an mx5.

amazing how different our choices are here!!

but maybe our choices are based more on mood of the day than a definitive list

Been weighing up what new car to buy. Budget is in theory unlimited so went to look at a Panamera Sportbrake Turbo...but the boot is too small, and the fifth seat too restricted by transmission tunnel to be any good as an all purpose car. I’m back to looking at Amg 63 estates because I only really want one car for all things...but I’d rather have a Volvo and an S65 really. Camper would be fun too I think.
Alpina estate? Review in latest issue of evo its the cheapest way to get a 200mph new car

Play the game son, it's a brand new car! Put petrol in it, service it and insure it. The hardest bit of buying it outright is already done for you. Even someone earning a very basic wage would probably be able to afford the bits in between.
