I should just leave, just sneak to the car and drive away like I was never here.
Good job you've got a quiet, discreet car to do so...I reckon the t shirt is Harry's. He certainly took a shine to you judging by those vids. Did you check behind your shower curtain for dead bodies? That definitely looks like a hotel that has shower curtains over the bath.
Great thread! I think you've got a real admirer in Frank there. Picture this with Franks eyes: an Englishman touring Western Europe in an English car successfully taking on the world (and in yellow too!) with barely anything else but a guitar and a drone. All the cares in the world left at home and plenty of time to think, reflect on and plan this silly thing called Life. This is what a lot of guys wish they could do.
First of all, latest updates from the weekend are fantastic. You've just made my Monday morning cuppa a whole lot more entertaining.
Do you think early May would be too early? I was planning late April-Early May, but I'm still trying to work out when on average most the mountain passes open. My daughters birthday is 23rd May, so I need to go either before or after that.
As for the route, I'm a little way off planning an exact route, but you can find my initial points of interest map here – https://drive.google.com/open?id=1DjoZUM4IZ1GbnqIL...
Been pin pointing all the good roads and some places I'd like to see and will fine tune later down the line – feel free to make some suggestions to things that aren't on that list! You can see the area I want cover though, west austria, switzerland and north of italy/the lakes.
If you plan to go around May time next year then we'll have to try cross paths for a pint!

Right let's have a look.
Sorry for any confusion. I was staying at a hotel called Tullio (look for Supercars of Tullio on Facebook) at Lake Como. The guy who owned it is a petrol head and gave me various routes for the best passes so I was heading off on daily runs. That day I went up the Moloja (stunning frankly) then on to St Morritz, right to a little town called Pontrasina then through the Bernina Pass.
Back into italy at Tirano and then... somewhere, bringing me back to Como.
The Alps can get a bit confusing when you're driving them a lot.
I think late May is a good time. Things havent really got going down there, last year I was late June and everywhere was busy, this year all the skiing places like Chamonix were still pretty quiet. There are the dreaded cyclists but not enough to ruin it (and I've got nothing against them, they've come a long way to enjoy themselves too but I wish they wouldn't sit on the centre fking line for miles like that!)
I climbed the same alp this year as I did last year and there was loads more snow so I can see how some passes might still be shut.
I will welcome your wisdom kewy so do post up a route when you've done planning.
Never know what's out there but if I'm still breathing I will be coming out again next year.
Ah that makes more sense, so it was a trip out from and back to Como. We didn't head down quite as far as St Moritz, wish I had now I know you can loop round on the Bernina! But we were staying by Lake Maggiore and I'd already strayed about 4 hours from our hotel so thought best not to go too much further! Sorry for any confusion. I'll drop you a PM and we can sort out a pint santa
Christ do you remember that? I've still got a pic somewhere.
Bless Lily and Russell, both gone now.
You and your mates did a good thing that day.
I think of him often when I'm out here with a beer and the guitar. As I said above, none of us know what's out there, got to enjoy it while you can.
Indeed, are you still around wickford way?

WOW - Tell us more! What do you remember from last night?!!!?
Worryingly little John. I found some pics of my phone of Frank and his wife in my hotel room at about 3am, this must be why i have the spare badge.
It was superb though, one of those things that just happen. I do remember lots of dancing with expensively attired ladies.
Reading it back I was way too harsh on Ranier and the security team, I made it a personal crusade to get in passed them but they were obviously doing a very professional job.
I have Franks card, I vaguely remember me him and his wife all arranging to visiting each other but there are no details, I'm sure he was as clueless as me the following day.
Fabulous people though, they both put up with me all night and got me through the minefield of the correct etiquette.
Difficult night to top. Really pleased I had the chance to document it on the go. I think my battery went flat shortly after going down to the do, probably just as well.
,
Today is my last full day out here and I'm now in Belgium. Planned to go out early and get some "Dave following the car" footage before it's too late.
Went into a service station first thing and met Ines.
A 28 year old French girl.
She helped me clean the car and we spent the day together visiting stuff in Lille and Lens.

I have to point out of course that it was all above board, I have my lovely partner at home and I'm not looking for anything else but...

Suddenly standing in a field cursing Dave for failing to get a connection lost its appeal.
