Sadly Lotus appears to be a shadow of its former. They really are stuck between a rock and a hard place - They can't produce the volume (think, if they sold 10x the current production they would need more staff, factory etc) and the other extreme is to carry on making a low number at a much higher price, but to do that is a huge leap in quality (and perceived quality/value). JMG pushed both volumes and price up (probably as much as possible), but is it a case of flogging a dead horse?
The successful period for Lotus was when they could produce a competitive supercar at a lower price than the competition, with 'free' advertising on the film screen.

With investment from Geely, I expect they have a future. Whether it will be one which includes cars as distinct from the mainstream as it has in the past remains to be seen. If Geely wants volume, they may need to water the proposition down somewhat.
