I used to own a huge Toyota 4x4 for no other reason than I liked it, but the Audi version just seems to attract the most unpleasant people with the worst attitudes.
What examples/evidence can you give to support this statement?
Sorry I can't , but you can trust me it's a FACT and not just an opinion.

wow

Thanks for making realise I am in fact a tool. Pistonheads has just stepped up a level in usefulness for me.

Your world seems a very angry place.

It's not long until the hordes of Q7s, X5s, et al descend upon Cornwall bringing their money (which they are usually quick to remind us poor yocals about) and their angry driving. I work near a roundabout that is poorly signed and appallingly designed. I shall observe which of the larger vehicles behaves the most boorishly and impatiently. Interestingly, there is a road going through a tiny village callaged Angarrack where the drivers of these behemoths often re-route themselves to avoid the A30 bottleneck at Hayle, so I can also report also about the cardinal country lane sins of not pulling in or reversing. It could be a veritable feast of SUV bad manners and assorted cliches.

careful chap, you'll bring down a hoard of stereotypical replies upon yourself as I did - jealous, chip-on-shoulder, antivag, nit-picking grammar-correction etc..., i've not been called a troll yet on this thread but i'm sure it's just a matter of time until someone with a contrary opinion hauls that one out....

I don't think i've ever been tailgated or cut-up by a Toyota or Volvo SUV, I guess they just have more manners and less ego and haven't bought into the whole 4-ringpiece thing.

I blame Rick Stein.

Are you confining your comments to the brands mentioned or all 4x4s or just those driven by non locals ? There are loads of local LR/RRs and Carrs and Roger Young both seem to do a roaring trade.

Every time we visit we see at least as many VW transporters clogging up the roads !

Dude, we tolerate all the regional yokels who manage to drive up to London all year round and fail to adapt to the local driving style. The least you can do is tolerate a few of us for just a few weeks. biggrin

Besides, the real problem in U.K. summer tourist destinations are the annuitytards looking for a cream tea before the sweet release of death.

A30 southbound at Hayle was bad last week during the half term holidays. Solid from Roseworthy down to PZ, and queuing to get into St. Ives. I imagine it'll be awful during the summer holidays, as usual. I try and stay at home in the mornings during the summer, and avoid the A30 at all costs.

I'm one of the locals with an SUV - Touareg. Well, lived, worked and spent my money here for over 20 years, so I don't think I'm an emmet or incomer any more.

It's not an Audi so you're OK anyway I think (although this could change as the degree of reverse snobbery is quite inconsistent and unpredictable).

I must admit that's the reason I went for a Touareg rather than a slightly older Q7, Cayenne or X5 for the same money - a little less likely to upset the haters.

Badge snobs, market sector snobs, sexist driving stereotypes, opinion, fact...these wonderfully productive and positive conversational hard standings crop up when discussing pretty much anything here at PH.
I do wonder though whether an SUV discussion doesn't bring allll of them together.... why would that be....because there is no fact that any one of these things is SUV specific... yet here they all are...scratchchin

...anyway... What a beautifully built, superbly functional and supremely ugly mode of transport the Q8 is...I shall call it Bane.

A few points, some picked up on by others...
A rear diffuser??
fake exhausts...urghh
A vehicle made larger to allow for the compromised roof line... bizzare…
It's just as well headlight technology is getting smaller with LEDs... as brand/image heavy grilles look to take over the 'face'...to that end I can't believe I'm looking forward to the SEV...with their painted on versions of the same....they'll be like those Nascar racers hehe

That all depends on what part of Cornwall you live in. Pendeen? Forget being anything other than an emmet unless you're thirtieth generation (proven) and you've married your daughter.

Better looking than the rest of the Q range, but nothing like the new RR designs or the X6. Don't fancy the current Audi design language - a big gaping hole in the front and lots of creases on the body.. and a mono-brow tail light.

Love the current Audi top end interiors.

lol, same down on the Lizard. Fortunately I'm near Helston, and they are used to incomers. Must've been a lot of interbreeding with the matelots, because I really can't tell who's local and who isn't
