The Urus with a new body then?
Yep. And suspension, brakes, interior, wheels etc.

Exactly my first thought on seeing that. Angry Audi Driver - coming to a rear view mirror near you soon.

I wish the fashion would go back to having "happy cars" rather than the current trend of having them styled to look as pissed off as possible.

It's virtually impossible to get angsty with a driver in one of these:

Why are people so hung up on the front grille?

It's going to be so close to your back bumper you'll never see it.

I banged on about this a while ago: you can't get angry in a happy car. Cars need to go back to round lights and big, smiley grilles as soon as possible smile

These will sell very well, both in the UK and globally.

Looks like a 1/2 price Urus to me, with a sensible engine for everyday use.

If you hollowed-out the Q8 you could probably perform a 3-point turn inside it with the Frogeye smile

As others have said, it'll no doubt work in its intended segment. The interior looks well resolved and well made but I am among those hung up on the grille and front. It looks like a scaled up power-socket for a modern appliance. Tacky and tacked on - oversized with small angry lights. It's angry/sad. Audi seem to have an issue deciding on what the face of their cars should look like. I for one hope they don't settle on this direction.

Only if you're also in a stupid SUV. If you're two foot lower down in an ordinary car it'll be like that moment at the beginning of Star Wars when a star cruiser just fills the screen.

Are you sure? It will be impossible to get an exact parts list but considering the Touareg, Q7 and Cayenne share an assembly plant I dont see why the floorpan wouldnt be the same? Bodypanels and interior will be different.

I suspect that's kind of the impression the buyers of these cars want to make.
And then one of their pals shows up in one of these

Damn. I thought it had some sort of BBQ.

Like the rear and interior (apart from the chav jacket quilted leather). Not keen on the grill, oops I mean grille.

OEMs aren't doing this at random nowadays

stern or steely-eyed expressions on cars, particularly SUVs and trucks, tend to go down well with buyers

however... the first autonomous car from Google / Waymo (see below) was intentionally given an anthropomorphic and amiable face

there's lots to examine in all this:

As tediously predictable as this comment about how tedious and predictable Audi have become (or have been for the past 15 years or so..).

Even down to the fact it's been photographed with orange paint. You know, to make it less dull.

The Sport in SUV was originally because they are designed to carry your sporty equipment around and not because the car is sporty.

I know that has now changed now, but I guess some of the SUVs now are more sporty than the saloons of yesteryear. In fact something like a BMW X3 is sportier to drive than say an A4 S-Line.

The Cayenne is supposed to be the drivers choice. From the outside it looks like a big, heavy, lump of a car. But when you get behind the wheel you find it's a big, lump of a car with poor interior space relative to its external dimensions.
