unique in as ripped off the g glass design, then yes.

It will be bought by people more interested in being seen in at Starbucks drive through than actual being used.
I don't know about the UK, but where I live, the vast majority of people who buy them use them for at least light off roading. People who just want to show off in Starbucks generally buy the German brands. I think they're great - we're about to move to a place a couple of miles down a dirt track, and my wife really wants one. The Jimny and various kinds of Toyota pickups are the most popular cars in the neighborhood, because people value a car with off road ability that isn't massive and doesn't cost a fortune to run.

I see quite a few going around up here in rural Aberdeenshire and the owners typically don't look the type to be hanging around at Starbucks! Think farmer's wives and you'll be closer to the mark.

Not quite unique, but I don't think it does a bad job of looking like the original Jimny but beefed up a little. Obviously predating the G-Wagen.

Quite a few in this part of rural Wiltshire and they certainly don't appear to have been bought for posing!

The average person isn't going to see it as a status symbol in any way unlike say a big Audi Q thingy or even a new Defender, I really don't think most are being bought for those reasons at all, just a pretty much unique nearly new vehicle.

No one is buying any Suzuki branded car for posing purposes - VAG / BMW / Mercedes / Porsche / Tesla (to some degree) etc… yeah, not Suzuki

Exactly, the market isn't exactly overrun with small cars with genuine off-road ability. Other than the Jimny you are left with obese SUVs and 5m pickups.

Well sukuki offer 3 over models in this category. Again how many will end up off roading?

If the previous model is anything to go by, every single one of them at some point.

Jimnys have always been popular with the off-roading community, less so farmers since their size limited their utility, a Polaris Ranger is a better bet in that case. Suzukis other offerings are 4wd cars, but not off-roaders, so I don't really agree with your statement.

I just think it is a shame it was killed off so quickly, a small light efficient petrol car should have been encouraged, rather than the continuing trend of bigger, heavier, faster. I would certainly have one if they were still available, and if they ever did a 5-door LWB version I would bite off their hand.

I don’t think it’s fair to say Suzuki ripped off the G Class design. They were building small off-roaders for years before the G Class was released.

More than a hint of truth in this IMO; I live in rural North Yorks and have seen a lot more of these immacutely clean in the suburbs of York than I have out in the sticks. Sure they may eventually filter down to farm use as they are the real deal when it comes to off-road stuff, but if you want a utility vehicle for that sort of thing there's many better options for what they currently cost. I think that most are bought new as a cutesy lifestyle trinkets in the same manner as Minis, Fiat 500s etc.

Haha - the closest one to here is in one of the Aberdeen commuter villages so about 20 miles away maybe.

Wow. I like it. Alot. However I wouldn't spend more than 12-14k on one.

It's a Suzuki at the end of the day. None of their cars look and feel 'quality' to me.

quick look, yes 3 years old, but 6k for an orginal looking car with similar tech.

No brainer for me, i prefer the ignis 4x4 anyway offers so much better value, hell even the swift 4x4 is worth a look. 20 odd k is heavy money for it.

Doesn't the Jimny have a dual range box and locking diffs?

In my experience, better engineered and better screwed together than the usual German suspects. They seem to spend the money on the bits that really matter rather than perceived quality in the cabin etc.
