In line with its predecessors, the 911 Speedster Concept features a lightweight tonneau cover instead of a convertible top, from beneath which the sat-nav, air-con and radio have all been removed, while the seats are full bucket carbon items.
Has the article changed since you read it?

Having owned a caterham with no roof and a tonneau I can confirm the latter is no substitute for the former when caught in a thunderstorm on a stationary M25.
The truckers to my left however found it very amusing.

I can imagine the truckers being a sympathetic bunch!

The cynicism of Porsche knows no bounds with all these piss-take variants that no-one this side of a billionaire can actually buy. What a lash-up this thing is, looks as if the 6th form work experience lads did it over half term.
Eh they seem to put way more effort into these specials than any other marque i can think of jwwbowe said:
Hideous car for characterless people. Shown in it's natural generic colour of silver bet it will look great in a golf course car park though.
Whilst I'm not a huge fan of the car, I think your post is quite absurd. There may be a reason it's shown in silver....you know, the original colour of the car it's paying homage to Edited by jwwbowe on Sunday 10th June 00:29
I wouldn't call a car with a manual box, 500bhp and without a roof as characterless
Basically, if Porsche can make a manual 500 bhp open top car that drives anything like a 991.2 GT3 then I’d buy one like a shot.
To me a manual 991.2 GT3 and an open top version would make the perfect pair.
In terms of the design of the car; this is obviously completely subjective. The only thing that I don’t like about it is the two colour paint ; make it self colour or tonal and to my eyes, it would be beautiful.
Delighted I’m on my own with this; it means there will be less of a bun fight to buy one - I wish

Your post reveals more about your character than the people you've insulted as "characterless" merely because they either like or will own a Speedster. That would be the same as insulting people just for being fans of Nissans, Aston Martins or TVRs. I may not be a fan of those cars but I certainly wouldn't hold it against them because they are. Best stick to commenting about the cars themselves.aelord said:

With something like 24 911 variants presently available, the range offers something for everyone. Although your assertion may be levelled at the current range to some degree, that's not the case with Porsche's one-offs and even more so now that the rest of the 911 range is turbocharged. The Speedster, like the 911R before it are not variants at all but unique cars in their own right. Drive a GT3/RS and tell me that's a 911 variant; it's not. It's a totally different car.Porsche offers cars from £45k to £150k+ so there's something for most everyone from new. Used cars are very good buys as well, the cars are reliable and the servicing costs are reasonable. Contrast that with Ferrari or Lamborghini whose ranges only start at £150k+, and neither offers the accessibility or reliability of Porsche. However, I would say that, in my opinion, I think they should have created a Speedster based on the Boxster with 718 GT4 components with a larger limited build (5,000?) priced at sub £100k. I think that would have created greater accessibility of the product and for the brand. Frankly, I have no clue where you're coming from with respect to the billionaire comment because that's simply not the case.

Fair enough, that's your opinion but I disagree. I don't think the design works well from all angles but overall I think they've done a good job. Edited by Sierra Mike on Sunday 10th June 16:49

What's with the white bra and who photo shopped those kit car wing mirrors onto it?
Shocking. Should have just been in a lovely bright colour as these (had they not all already been allocated to dull millionaire collectors) would have looked right at home quayside in the Med.

At least on a Caterham you can use a 'half hood' which works better than a normal 7 hood as it doesn't steam up the insides.Having owned a caterham with no roof and a tonneau I can confirm the latter is no substitute for the former when caught in a thunderstorm on a stationary M25.

Remarkably well said agree with your comments completely . I ike reading PH but sadly it does highlight there are a lot of idiots in the world as per the examples you highlight , oh by the way I like the car
Thanks Charlie. If some people's manners on display on PH mirror their behaviour in the real world, their associates/family members have my sympathies. If it doesn't, I see no reason why they can't behave and play well with others on PH as well. g7jhp said:

the fuel filler cap in the bonnet ... filling up would probably require you to put something down to protect the paintwork from petrol dripping from the nozzle. Imagine doing that everytime!
It's a design feature that Singer use as well to be fair. It's probably just a case of getting used to it I'd imagine but draping a fuel hose over a car isn't something that I'd naturally want to do myself. Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
