All this hate for Porsche yet everyone loves Tesla, a car devoid of any heritage, style or anything else?
That’s the very reason for me.

People love Teslas? I’ve heard about this species. Thought they lived in safe space land with the unicorns. They’re real?

Tesla themselves are weirdos who want to make an iPhone that moves about a bit. I look at people who rave about Tesla’s like folk who eat Mushroom soup. We share the same planet but ultimately we’re worlds apart. I’m mars, they’re Venus.

I go to Porsche for products that come from an altogether different dimension. They should know better. Sounds like a milk float. Noiseless. Lacks gears. Lacks a lot. Sod the badge. As for heritage, yeah they made an electric armchair on wooden Fuchs wheels eleventy thousand years ago. I also suspect NASA were looking for rather different things in an antique dodgem Porsche than I. Also Porsche made tank turrets, but I don’t particularly want one of them either.

Take a look at that promo video in the OP. Not the mark Webber one. The very thing this car is missing is soul. It’s an animated cadaver of a Porsche. Not a pleasant likeness, more one that fits into the “uncanny valley” model of psychology.

I feel with this Porsche are peeing in my pocket and telling me it’s rain.

I’m not happy unless they come up with something akin to the Delorean Time machine in sound and senses. If it can punch through Time that’s a plus. Basically something to make up for the yawning chasm that eliminating a vibrating, snarling engine with gears has done. Its my money they’re not doing a public service. I’m both ears to new products and motion, but mines a nah so far on this one.

Unless they give me a mega mega discount. biggrin

Side sauce. No offence meant, just a cheap shot at teeing up the Taycan foregranted comment. Which was quickly outdone by the far funnier overtaycan conundrum.
Sorry, not taking this seriously. Thanks for your interesting post.
I look forward to Taycan one of these for a spin one day.

I see it more as IC ones are st but we are used to them, love them and are tolerant of their shortcomings, EV's are miles better but have a couple of shortcomings we arent used to, they will do the job better in all ways apart from stirring the emotions, in the same way/at all.

If we had viable EV's already, nobody would be suggesting inventing contraptions that burn various types of oil.

Like it or not, they are coming, in 50 years I fully expect a thread on whatever car website bemoaning old IC cars getting int he way and how they shouldnt be allowed on the roads.

They are not the environmentally perfect machines that they are purveyed as. It will take decades before a manufactured EV vehicle becomes environmentally neutral and pedeatrians will be getting nowed down left, right and center.

Well, I mean, huh, Soul? Marketing bks. Mark Weber? Just going through the motions. Boring!

And Taycan? Awful, awful name. Sounds like mistaken. Total sh*t name. The department that came up with Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne and Macan can do a damn site better than that piss poor pair of syllables.

Taycan looks like a faster Porsche take on a Tesla; basically a go-faster me-too. Soul my ass. Mission E is the name to use. Performs like a Tesla on steroids and driving dynamics that piss all over the Muskmobile. That's what we want.

Taycan! Bleughh.

For what? They already produce a faster longer range car than this, and will have a new version of the supercharger out end of this year.

I also doubt this £90,000 up car will sell in large numbers regardless.

As for weight, the panamera e hybrid already weighs 2400kgs I doubt this will be any heavier?

Good to see Porsche getting in on this market, surprised they didnt do it with their suv line first. and the 800v battery system and fast charging will be great, theres already a few 350kw chargers in europe

As well as SUVs, another way to fund production of their proper cars. In which case, fine by me.

60mph in 3.5, 200kmh in 12 seconds.
Weight around 2500kg guessing.
Cost I expect 90 grand and up.
