I agree. While i'd be leaning more towards one of the bright and wacky colours on these, that white actually really suits the car. I'm not convinced that the current non-Trophy version will be as disappointing as people are expecting. Sure, the Trophy mode is what the proper hardcore Renault Sport fans want, but even the Megane 250 as a base is/was a fantastic car to drive.
It's come along way now from the old 225. I think people forget that. I'd be more than happy with a Cup-packed 280 in Tonic Orange with the EDC gearbox and maybe the alcantara pack too.
I absolutely loved my 250 Cup. Renault no doubt improve the models with age, but the 250 hit the spot straight away and the later models only really had minor changes made to them (with the obvious exception of the Trophy R).It's come along way now from the old 225. My 280 Cup should be leaving the factory in about 3 weeks. Really excited for delivery
I'm waiting for the UK reviews. But I have to say I like this car.
Being mid 40's the understated looks of the Megane appeal far more than the boy racer looks of the Civic Type-R, or the bland as can be offerings from VW.
Would wait for the Trophy version, just as long as it's not too hard-core for the road. Would be very tempted to spec `Mid life crisis Orange` too

Like the look of that, shame we can't have the damper travel sensors fitted to the test car, they look suitably practical.
They're wheel force torque sensors to measure active forces on the wheels using strain gauges, nothing to do with damper travel.I don't think any of the new crop of hatches are lookers, I realise that legislation will determine some of the similar shapes/traits between manufacturers. I do like the proper flared bodywork on this and past Renault Sports cars rather than bolted on bits.
So far I like this new one against rivals on the looks front. No doubt the people who engineer the chassis and set-up on these know what they are doing to.

They need to be doing some pretty cheap deals on these on the never never, the first cars aren't even with their owners are they?
If they keep releasing updated versions every six months it'll be some bath on the previous car's values
Hope they dont do no silly deals like VW do. End up with a right set of idiots driving them just like the golf R with all the 20 year olds thinking they’re loaded because they’ve got £299 a month spare to rent a golf. Renaultsports are for the proper driving enthusiasts. If they keep releasing updated versions every six months it'll be some bath on the previous car's values

Phoned my local dealer yesterday to enquire when a test drive would be available for the new Megane RS.
They can't get one, as they are not an appointed Renault Sport dealer. The nearest Renault Sport dealer to me is 40 miles away, and roughly 40-45 min drive away, as it's in a city centre.
Not sure how selling and servicing a Megane RS is different to selling and servicing a 1.6 petrol Megane.
I'm certainly not going to waste half a day and driving 160 miles each time the car requires a service or warranty work.

Servicing etc is the same and can be done at any dealer, but Renault UK has specific RS dealers that have specific sales people dealing with RS products.
The RS dealers have to keep Megane and Clio demonstrators, normal dealers can if they choose but aren't required to.
Unfortunately, RS products (in the main, for most dealers I would assume) make up a tiny number of the sales so lots of dealers choose not to have a demonstrator.

It's a little frustrating as one could think that not having a demonstrator is not gonna help make the numbers any bigger. I would have thought a clever dealership would at least have one for Halo effect in the showroom or just outside. They'll still sell it if they want to.The RS dealers have to keep Megane and Clio demonstrators, normal dealers can if they choose but aren't required to.

Do you have one ? Or maybe you are RS anyway ?

We're not an RS dealer but we do have one on order. We have run all the Megane RS range since start. We don't normally run Clio though as we haven't ever sold that many of them (but we have run the odd one here and there)We have a small committed base of RS owners that will likely buy without driving anyway TBH, seems to be the way.
There is a feeling with some dealers that having them brings out the 'test pilots' and for sure there is a higher rate of people who drive them and never get heard from again than we get with Captur/Clio etc but IMO that's just the nature of the buyer, they drive all the similar type vehicles and then buy whichever is the cheapest lease ( )
My favourite car we've had was the 275 Trophy, great car.

I like it how fast Renaults are instantly recognizable to those who care about cars, and completely go under everyone else’s radar. This one is no exception.
I was lucky enough to borrow one earlier this week, did about 150 miles or so in it and i have to say it was completely ignored by every other road user. A couple of the petrolheads in the office noticed it as soon as it was in the work car park but to joe public this car is completely invisible.Megane R.S. by Rob E, on Flickr
