£15995 new in 2008. Exactly what I paid for a 172 in 2000 !
Renault often did deals on the RS models. I paid £12,500 for my 182 in 2004, new with cup spoiler pack. At one time you could get a 197 F1 for the same price as they couldn't shift them.

It won't be long before your average electric shopping car will blow away today's turbo hatches at which point all you'll want is the excitement of revs, noise and not getting anywhere (relatively) quickly.

One of the last high revving hot hatches will probably be very desirable fairly soon.

And the newly launched 7500prm MX5 will be a true collector's item (not to mention the S2000).

These are the car equivalents to the last days of steam...

Do you know what though after driving cars with silly exhausts since I got into driving there's something quite nice about 179bhp instant power with no noise.

Wife has an Abarth Comp and honestly it gets a little tiresome that it shouts at every little bit of input (especially at 06:15 in the morning)

Power without noise is what made the XJ12 such a wonderful device for relaxed travel. It's also the big attraction of electric cars and will become the norm. But it's the noise and excitement that will make people want to enjoy ICEs as classics in the same way people go to watch The Flying Scotsman while a modern electric train is so much faster, quieter and cleaner.

It won't be long before our petrol and diesel cars are all relics. It will be the exciting ones most people will want to remember.

I have a 197 + cup pack...had it for 6 years and it is one of the most fun cars i've ever owned...including the S1Elise....However....It's like Triggers Broom . Gearbox and suspension have been replaced a few times along with the pivot hubs ( 3 times now)! Also the manifold is made of chocolate.think i'm on my 3/4th one now and the latest I've now sent to a welder to strengthen it, The drivers set has also broke one of the mountings and it requires constant tracking setup....

But when its all working its amazing.....for all its problems and cost I won't ever get rid of it...
