Although...using a torque wrench to undo something?
Yes; the central locking bolts have a trapezoidal bearing that settles after installation; special attention is paid to both the greasing and operation of the assembly - if it requires less than 400Nm of torque to undo the bolt then additional checks have to be made before re-use. Also, as mentioned in the article they are installed; torqued; loosened and retorqued on each installation.

There is separation in the business; all under the banner of Porsche Retail Group.
Retail/Operations. I am on the Retail side.
Thanks! FWIW it wasn’t meant in a critical way: there’s a reason why he’s a Porsche tech in charge of their press fleet, and I stick to bicycles!

I did an A-Level project for Porsche UK back in the late 90's and got the tour of the workshops. They had some incredible cars in there, although this was before the retail side was built onto the side of the building.
I recall a 959, a brace of race prepped 911s, the first shipment of Boxsters and some 911 Turbos which may have been the last of the air cooled models (circa '96/97).
Porsche also owned Lamborghini UK at the time as well so also got to see a few Diablos up close as well and, so I was told, Jay Kay's crashed Diablo from the Cosmic Girl video?
I was taken out in a 911 Turbo and to this day I struggle to think of another car I have been in that accelerates with such brute force.
Only living a couple of miles away from the place it would be great if I could afford to have one on the driveway one day! biggrin

Interesting article, particularly as I’ve recently bought a Cayan GTS 981 which I found on a YouTube video.
Transpired it was a Porsche UK press Car. Reassuring that it was properly cared for in its early life.

These guys really are unsung heroes! When I worked in Toyota's PR team many years ago, our workshop guys really put in the hard yards to prep (and sometimes even re-build) cars, often at very short notice. Generally, motoring journos are an appreciative bunch, but there were are few who drove our cars in ways they were unlikely to drive the ones they paid for themselves (no names, no pack drill)! Good on you for writing this article.

For a bit of balance, my 911 needed a new side window (deep gouge) and repainting of both rear quarter panels and paint on both doors, on one rear quarter panel the paint was completely gone exposing the black corrosion protection coating. This was the result of OPC Reading performing a minor service on it.

1st Porsche, the absolute worst service experience I have ever had!
It's all you bang on about, every Porsche thread has you bleating on about the same thing. Give it a rest, it's getting boring. I'm sure every Porsche Centre in the country will make a mistake at some point.
