Guys, i wanted to know what you are paying to insure a car which can't be covered by a classic car policy, obviously 2nd car the insurers won;t let you use your NCD if it is being used on another

for example i have been quoted the thick end of 500 for a e39 full comp
I went multi-car a few years back, and am currently insuring the 7 series, the SL, the M6 and a 330d.

The M6 is £800 even with 16+ yrs NCD.
The 7 series is £310 with it’s own 16+ years NCD.
The 330d was £400 based on zero NCD as a 3rd car. (reminds me, need to cancel that - it’s made it to Cyprus now).
The SL was £320 based on zero NCD as a 4th car.
All are F/C with 10k business miles, based on OL11 postcode (not good). Half those figures if I were in CM7 (sister is there so good reference point).
Axa currently do the M6, 330d & the 7, but won’t touch the SL as it’s too old. Specialist classic policies require me to have a garage, and since I don’t have one, went to a broker, but can’t remember who the underwriter is.

In my experience, most companies will ‘mirror’ your NCD if you’ve got an existing policy with them.

try these guys, highly recommeneded in the classic VW world:

Will give those a go next.

On the insurance front: Learning fast that the cheapest insurance quote isn’t always the best. My non-fault LS400 claim (my first ever in 27 years) isn’t going well. No names named, but seems my very well known specialist insurance broker either insists I claim off your own policy (no thanks, not with eight vehicles on the fleet), or they farm out the process to a claims management company that are, after a 10 second google, disreputable and unscrupulous to say the least.

All for washing my hands of the whole business and sorting it myself. Then again, the nagging feeling is why the hell should I?

If non-fault can't you just deal with the other person's insurance company and not involve yours?

Want. Really really want.

Terrible timing. bugger.
Now hopefully sold subject to deposit etc.

It was probably a little cheap, but I prefer to have a range of buyers to chose from and for the buyer to get a good deal!

Painful even thinking about this such is the level of lust generated:

Sketchy MOT history and only goes back to 2014 so I presume this would have been an import?

Looks lovely but, from the advert ... “Vehicle was stored prior to 2013 for 26 years then recomissioned”

Good luck tongue out

I believe that is the case when I called them last year on the CL. Now the CL is 20 years old I will probably forget to try them next year.

I did use a hair drier to warm it up a bit but even then it didn't all come off in one go. A hazy film of glue stuff was left all over so the main tip I have is to use lots of old cloths, changed frequently (I cut up some worn out shirts) and lots of nail varnish remover, which acted as a solvent to remove all the glue with a bit of agitation.
Very nice work, my experience is that petrol is the finest glue remover there is, and a lot cheaper than nail polish remover.

If anything that'll mean it's in better nick than one that's been outside for 26 years! Sounds like it's pretty well sorted, looks splendid.

An old inmate of threads passim - the silver imported R129 500SL with the black checked cloth seats - makes another bid for freedom. Previously spotted down in Hampshire on eBay and then somewhere in South London.

Doesn't sound as though it is getting any better with time.

On the subject of non-fault claims, a Ford Kuga ran into the side of my crappy old Astra a few months ago and then drove off. I had little choice but to report it to my insurance company although I would’ve rather struck a deal at the scene.

My insurance company (Admiral) was excellent from start to finish. They paid out their estimation of the value of the car (easily double its realistic value) within three working days and soon after that (a few weeks) I had a cheque in the post from the third party insurer for my excess, along with a letter from Admiral confirming that my no claims bonus would not be affected. It could not have been easier or more pleasant, apart from the unpleasant nature of having a car accident

Not yet, that I've seen, but I like it a lot. Oh sure, it's going to need a decent bork chest, and it's going to spend more time with the local indie than on my drive, but I still like it.

back when overfinch were more than just a 'styling' house for chavs. They used to do engine swaps like this chevy 350... incidentally brand new one of these engines only 2k miles ago??
