back when overfinch were more than just a 'styling' house for chavs. They used to do engine swaps like this chevy 350... incidentally brand new one of these engines only 2k miles ago??
Looking at it, the interior needs a proper, proper deep clean, and the whole thing will want a good look over by someone who knows what to look for, but it doesn't sound like too bad a place to start if you want a nice family wagon capable of mildly surprising the chavs at the traffic lights.

Patrick Bateman - any luck with the 745i advert?
Small update but not a good one.

3 weeks of being advertised, 2 initial emails received but no follow-ups after replying.

Pretty sure it's time to reduce the price, nobody on here feeling enthusiastic enough??

I did use a hair drier to warm it up a bit but even then it didn't all come off in one go. A hazy film of glue stuff was left all over so the main tip I have is to use lots of old cloths, changed frequently (I cut up some worn out shirts) and lots of nail varnish remover, which acted as a solvent to remove all the glue with a bit of agitation.
Very nice work, my experience is that petrol is the finest glue remover there is, and a lotmarginally cheaper than nail polish remover.
!

I'd have to say I recommend you vapour-blast your windows with LPG...

An old inmate of threads passim - the silver imported R129 500SL with the black checked cloth seats - makes another bid for freedom. Previously spotted down in Hampshire on eBay and then somewhere in South London.

Doesn't sound as though it is getting any better with time.

Nice but seems an unprecedented amount of electrical niggles. Wonder if they dropped it into the sea whilst loading it onto the boat?

Not me I'm afraid! Depends how urgent you want it going really. Thing is, at that price, it's unlikely to be a massive reduction, and if anyone was interested, but at a slightly lower price, I'd have thought that they'd at least call to try and haggle you down.

Small market though, isn't it.

Yeah true but not even a really cheeky offer or enquiry seems odd. Just basic 'is the car still available?' comments.

To which you'd expect more questions to follow up the answer of 'yes' but apparently not.

I sell a lot of clothes on specialist brand-specific Facebook groups after I've worn them once or twice. It is utterly staggering (and infuriating) how many people message asking, "this still for sale, mate?", to which you take time to reply and then have no further interaction. I don't know what the psychological terminology is for it but it's bloody annoying!

Sketchy MOT history and only goes back to 2014 so I presume this would have been an import?
Looks lovely but, from the advert ... “Vehicle was stored prior to 2013 for 26 years then recomissioned”

Good luck tongue out
Ah.. memories. My very first Jag was one if these, in this very colour, Dorchester Grey. Mine was D265ELF and I bought it in about 1990, and then sold it 18 months later as literally every single body panel had rust bubbles appearing. I saw it another year later in a car park and the rust had not been kind, every panel had rust runs and holes. It was properly fecked and probably still only about 8 years old.
Rust was not the friend of these. smile

But what a lovely ride, it wasn't until the 4.0 version of the straight 6 engine appeared in the XJ40s that they matched the refinement of these.

Long time no speak.

Just to say I bumbled out from my house in Cambridge to my hometown of Ipswich last night for a little car meet up. Most of it was scened up retro yo stuff, but there were some nice cars and nice people - so a good time was had.

I also managed to get the photo I’ve wanted for a long time. (No, I hadn’t broken down!)

Anyone remember the advert?!

It was a 200 mile round trip by the time I then went on for a fleeting visit at my parents. The 190 performed pretty flawlessly, only the droning noise under heavy breaking being an irritation. What do we think, a wheel bearing?

My recent knackered wheel bearing experience was a constant drone, braking didn't make it worse

Does the sound get louder or quieter depending on which way you're turning?

A constant annoying drone from the passenger side usually means the missus is in the car with me.

The problem is I’ve NEVER been able to hear wheel bearings. I think it’s 15 years of wearing headphones for a living!

It’s an odd noise. Drone/Roar noise but only on moderate to heavy breaking from speeds over 40 ish. I did have a garage look at the brakes a few months ago and they couldn’t see any problem - so I thought I’d continue driving it until it gets so bad that it’s obvious what the problem is.

It will need some new tyres soon enough - so will probably get the 4 wheels investigated thoroughly at the same time. The rear diff oil is lumpy apparently - and it needs a good old service too.
