Terrible advert, but it looks very attractive and clean for a potentially cheap E28.

My lovely 2008 CLS 500 has gone to a new owner, Mottrad had it for a year or so, did a few bits and its gone to its third PH Owner, its the PH pool car !
Wish I hadn't had to sell, it was running perfectly thanks to the titivating we both indulged in during our stewardship of the old girl. I'm about to lose my parking spaces and couldn't face leaving it on the road at the mercy of the hoi polloi. I think they are a massive bargain, the 5.5 engine and airmatic are a fantastic combination. A proper waft-mobile.

Missing it already but have moved onto the new owners old E61 (does that make sense??) and am enjoying the challenge of fixing whatever I can as cheaply as a 750 quid shed deserves. A typical fix, duct tape on the boot struts as the plastic shrouds have split, xeropol on the headlights so I can see in the dark and coming soon a 4 quid BMW badge for the bonnet. In a similar spirit I'm considering the use of ear plugs to drown out the rattly din of the old school 3ltr diesel. One area I can't save on is fuel economy, cruising at 70 I managed to average 41mpg, I guess the autobox is to blame as my Spanish E39 would get near 50.

That has to be a euphemism, right?

Or have I missed a post.

It was a light hearted but ultimately unnecessary cheap shot casting vegetal aspersions as to the quality of the chap’s camera.

Yep, in my E39 experience manual versus auto, same engine, is worth about 7mpg on a diesel, about 5 on a petrol. My 530i manual touring does 35 on a decent run where my 530d auto used to do 39.

What engine in an E39 gets 50mpg?!

As mentioned earlier my E39, my 525D manual would get very close in motorway use at sub legal speeds ie cruise at 65 odd brisk flirtation with 80ish to overtake once in a while.

Yes, a 530D manual will do late 40s if you waft along at the legal limits and anticipate braking by lifting off early

My 211 with a slusher will do that, it's boring though.

Any thread purchases or temptations to report?

It sounds brilliant. I'd love a nice W140, shame I can't see the pics either.

Sheesh. Tough crowd.

Been away but I'll update the brown C124 tomorrow. It's up north now.
