For the discerning 129 SL owners, especially if you're after a gift-to-self, have you seen this:

Having just sold my R129 I have still in my garage the correct factory hard top shuttle

This is the one that makes removing top a person job, looks like an engine hoist, rolls under the car.The car can also be driven forward over it with the hard top on, it also allows the hard top to be stored whilst hanging, truly over engineered like the R129.

Took me an age to find

it is in very good condtion but needs a big van to collect

I am located in south Croydon CR2

I also still have a panoramic roof in brilliant silver ,perfect blinds...and new rubber seals fitted.

PM me foe more info
From here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Hmm - pano roof on an early SL is a big no-no, correct? The idea of having the hoist does appeal though.
As I understand it, the hoist is absolutely 'the thing' to have if one is feeling flush, they come up very rarely.

They did, if you paid for it. IIRC around £3k extra for Nappa on an E39. But yours was (according to the sheet) specced with the standard stuff.

Maybe it needs some 21" rims, and being "stanced?"
RE 21” wheels, make sure you roll the arches a good amount first! Lol

JOB
That's good you can see the funny side, but is it more because you know I'd never do that in a million years? hehe

If you thought I was serious, you'd be on the first plane/train to Glasgow to forcibly remove it from my possession (and quite right, too).

Acceleration (0-60mph) 4.4 seconds

That'll put the Golf R driving robbers back in their place.

Morning bargistas

Before I clicked on that RR Bentley link I thought must be ex-Sultan of Brunei. But no, it went to Jersey. Madness.

One of my 750's had buffalo leather, an almost £4000 option at the time, and the hide was thick as a phonebook biggrin I doubt BMW were relieving customers of that kind of money to install fake leather..

I get the sense it was brought back from Jersey as a low-mileage example and then butchered re-imagined.

A true 'artiste' would have sprayed them metallic red to really hold that paintjob together

In the same auction as the Bentley... Https://online.handh.co.uk/m/lot-details/index/cat...

Wonky headlamp wipers, and a blob of coke on the VIN plate.

Love the colour of the CL600. I wonder what it will make?

Photographer must have had an interesting night for that to fall out of his/her nose.

Given the 55 engine is pretty bomb proof that looks like a good prospect to me. That said I am not sure the slightly uncouth engine suits the S-Class as much as a V12 or even the standard 500

Normally you can't give the C140s away - it wouldn't surprise me if that sold for well within thread - 3750 or less. Not seen the inside of an MOT station since Aug 2015 and plenty of tech that could be really FUBAR by now like ADS. But it is a mid-1996 build car so it might have squeezed past the dodgy wiring loom era.

I bet that'd look great de-chromed and painted metallic black in any other colour scheme ever.

OK, if not great, then I'd settle for better smile

the whole back end of that looks as wobbly as an old fibreglass caravan that's been left out in the sun.

"Mustard and claret"? More like rhubarb and custard.

It can be done with impeccable style, not like that, but like this:

gold trim bits aside i love that. Weirdly it seems to be a mixture of silver for some things and gold for others, which looks st. De-goldify, lose the plate surround, change bumpers to older metal type not the stty massive rubber US type... yea i could go for that! It's probably worth 6 figures as it is, isn't it
