I've never seen an AT ad with 100 pics before! What a lovely beast it is too. I'd have that in a heartbeat if I hadn't just put a deposit on a very non-thread Transporter.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Ross, put some mental pictures to the numbers.
What is an Everesting, in terms of a hill most of us might be familiar with?
(the drive at Goodwood?)
The ride will be around 160 miles in total, around 80 miles will be uphill at a 7% gradient to climb 8848m or 29030ft. One famous UK hill is Box Hill which climbs 130 metres so it's just over 68 time that. Not sure about Goodwood I'm afraid! What is an Everesting, in terms of a hill most of us might be familiar with?

I need some advice on a Volvo S60 i saw last night. It has a couple of issues that I have no idea how easy they are to fix.
Oil Leak - There is a silicone pipe just under the oil filler cap ontop of the engine which is broken? That just a replacement pipe?
Alarm - Locks on remote but then the alarm sets off. Seems to be ok locking/unlocking just on the key?
Led / Radio - The radio works ok, but the backlight doesn't work so at night you cannot see the buttons. Does this need a replacement unit?
Starter Motor - Has a replacement starter motor, but RAC said the connector on the wire is a little loose and sometimes it causes it not to start.

The guy has the service book, but limited receipts. MOT history looks ok, and he said its been serviced regularly.
Any big pitfalls?

Renault Safrane 2.0 RT auto, a grand.
The seats. Look at the seats. Has there ever been a warmer, comfier place to sit awaiting the AA?

Regarding the alarm, that's a fault that'll need a new siren module to fix. To fix it temporarily (ish) pull out the fuse for the alarm from the fusebox that's on the end of the dashboard, driver's side (open the door and pull the plastic cover off the end of the dash, the bit with the airbag warning sticker on it). Think it's fuse 38 but don't hold me to that.Oil Leak - There is a silicone pipe just under the oil filler cap ontop of the engine which is broken? That just a replacement pipe?

What's happened is that the siren module contains a battery backup, in case the thief removes the main vehicle battery. The backup battery leaks, corrodes all the circuits in the siren module, and the alarm goes "oh no, tampering! Must be thieves!" and does the only thing it knows how to do.
The siren module replacement requires taking out the front offside wheel lining, it's just in front of the wheel there, held in with security bolts.
... Or, just pull the fuse and deal with a 5-second message on startup which says "alarm system service required" and don't leave your laptop/phone in the car.
Radio? I think the illumination is what you lose when the radio isn't coded to the car. Sadly I'm not sure how to fix that.
Surely the starter connector is a relatively simple job to fix?
Other than that, rear legroom is a bit pants, but for wafting along the S60 is a great car. I've had mine... 5 years/80k now, and I'm very happy with it!

Unless I'm in breach of any forum rules that I don't know about, I'll offer it on here before advertising on eBay or C&C. If anyone is interested, drop me an email or message and I'll brief you on the full details.....
Not only is it not breaching any rules, interthread sales are positively encouraged!I'm currently looking after the thread 7 series, when I get bored I expect someone else from here will pick it up...

But yes, in general the thread is a little like a wife swapping party, with 'product' getting passed around to sate various desires.
Only ours is less sexy. And more expensive. And probably grubbier. And with less attractive co-conspirators. Allegedly.

Nicely prepared and nicely presented; one could do a lot - a lot - worse.

First and foremost, as I hope anyone that’s bothered to read my ramblings will gather; I’m a petrolhead. I want to own as many cars as I can, and to keep owning lots more you generally have to sell a few. Plus, it’s bloody good fun.

I love buying but find selling a tedious brush with people* so try to avoid it. That's how valuable** collections are amassed. It's also why the inter-thread transaction is thoroughly approved-of here. * This doesn't apply when buying.
** This doesn't apply to me.

Brilliant work on the Jag! it looks a cracker. I only have a little experience with Jags, an XJ40, a Daimler Double Six, and a pals DB7 *cough cough*. They're not Mercs, not even close, but as good as they are they'll never have charisma quite like an overheating or malfunctioning Jaaaaaaaaggggggggg!
Re the 300E, I am delighted with it and its a lovely old bus. There are a few jobs I want to do to it before I'm fully satisfied but it will be re-offered for sale. Was trying to email for more detail but got an error message. Not sure if that is a problem at my end or yours.

After PB's experiences, you must be fking joking!
Luckily it'll never be worth less than a grand... otherwise we couldn't keep it in the thread It's behaving itself at the moment, I'm getting the camshaft sensors and vanos solenoids replaced next week, which i'm betting will sort out the occasional lumpy idle issue. £150 in parts and an hours labour to fit, so could be a lot worse!
I tried polishing the headlights, but it looks like a fair amount of the misting is on the inside too, so it didn't help very much. I'll keep an eye out for a good condition pair on ebay, and then she is sorted... till the next thing goes wrong
