That jaguar is quite something, although that model always seemed so frumpy to me. That spec would address that I guess! Fantastic garage too.

It wouldn't be ideal (shared unit) but if it was just a week or 2 it probably wouldn't be the end of the world. What are you thinking?
Of doing something really stupid, but you've just helped me re-orientate. I really need storage for a month or two, maybe more, so unless someone offers, I'm safe ... !
I could "look after" it for a while for you...
I can park it in the works secure ar park for you
I'd happily smoke it for you and complie a 'snag' list.

Once I'd had the Maynard's wine gum interior re-trimmed I'd be very happy with that.

Upthread we were discussing the ruinous potential of the Volvo 3.2 unit. Surely this wood-rimmed steering wheel acts as a talisman against such outcomes?

I don't doubt that it's a well-looked-after car but, for me, the ad. smacks of trying far too hard.

If you're in the market for one, you're going to know about the supercharger, and the gearbox, and the J-gate shifter, and the ...

And yes, the red would need to go.

I really have dithered and vacillated over this but have now decided that I'm definitely not going to go for it. Thanks to all of you who offered to help collect, drive or store it. Jolly decent one and all.

Is there a way of forming a collective deceptive ownership group?

A sort of merry-go-round of motorcars that to all extents and purposes appears that you're just 'looking after for a friend' for a few weeks/months/eternity but that you actually own one or two of, just in a secretive, 'passing through' kind of way...

That smacks of a man who's wife has left him and moved in with a toyboy and who is now waiting on 50% proceeds of the house sale

To put off any potential buyers our hero has removed all the furniture from the dining room and replaced it with a car lift and his car

That sounds interesting. Or a shared ownership kitty perhaps

I could be up for something like that - call it £1k each, nominated ‘owner’ responsible for organising tax/mot/insurance/servicing, but costs split across the group on a 20% each basis, where everyone in the group gets 10 weeks/year?

A sort of unoffical car-pool? If there’s a few willling participants, I’d be happy to throw the 7 & the SL into the pool for starters - my cars get so little use in general, it’d be worthwhile from my pov to keep them in use. (not sure it’d be insurance-feasible on the M6).

I know there’s more legalities to it than that, and contracts would have to be drawn up, etc - but it can’t be beyond our capabilities of thread denizens?

Time has been extraordinarily kind to the S Type R, whilst they do often look somewhat lardy in standard guise, this one looks mega. What an awful lot of car for the money.

I’d even say that in 2004 onwards facelifted guise even the standard car looks good, and the R very good.

I feel the same about X350. Maybe seeing less of the utterly fabulous X300/X308 models around mean it can be judged more fairly? The detailing looks as poor as ever, but overall I have come to like it.
