Long time lurker and admirer of the thread here.
I have owned a number of very threadworthy vehicles in the last decade including Audi A8, Merc S210, S211 and R107, Saab Aero and multiple BMW's. It is the only Pistonheads thread that I follow and can't go more than a week without checking in.
My current car is a manual e46 330 convertible which I really quite like and have hung onto for over 3 years despite it being bought as a fun summer hack. For the last couple of winters I have bought something better equiped to deal with the Scottish tundra. Last year the Saab 9-3 Aero was fun. This year I felt I needed a bit more 4x4 in my life, without the stilts. After much research, I realised that I had never owned a Subaru - which lead me to purchase this (flame suit on):
I have owned it for a few weeks now and I have to say I really like it. The car is totally standard apart from the factory fitted PPP kit. The suspension is actually pretty comfortable and the heated leather seats are toasty. It isn't too wafty (does this preclude it from being a barge?) as you would imagine and the exhaust has the ability to let the neighbours know I am off to work early again, but the car is pretty easy to live with and still has the ability to make my 7 year old some squeal with excitement when accelerating. The estate makes it practical and so far so good.
Only downside is that Mrs Micawber refuses to sit in it and thinks I am now a yob.
Does it count as a mini barge?
Will we form a new thread? I did the same thing about a month ago and for the same reasoning. I am in Scotland, currently own a BMW 3 litre convertible (z4) and fancied a subaru to play with. My apologies for thread derailment, as you were.

That will be gone tonight I reckon.Even with the miles and bodywork, they go for more than double that now.

Why does the mobile eBay site never show the fking price, surely that is the most important thing to show on a sale!Like the plate, just can't get past the spectrum of Werthers...
I'd say it's a scam... That's way too cheap.

I love this shape, and I’m not afraid to spend money on a car, but I bet that’s got £10k to spend on it on top of the purchase price to make it even approaching worthwhile. The lack of MOT history might be explainable, but I’d not pay 1/10 of the £5.5k asking, before putting this one in for an inspection to find the scale of the incoming spend.Prinny said:

- Geek trick; you can fit seperate SIM cards to an E38 with the double phone set up so that the Chauffeur has one number and the back seat driver has another.

There's a tale to tell on that particular car on bigcoupe; it's not pleasant reading.

Not good if so!
The MOT history doesn't seem to have any rust comments though.

Any other suggestions for magnificent starter noises?
Not a barge, but this is my favourite. https://youtu.be/ub4VKXpuZds?t=275

Personally, I couldn't resist a car with two phones.
I'd prefer the swb. Drove 2 of these briefly back in 2005 or 2006. With the electronic nanny turned off they just spin one wheel - a lot. I saw single digit mpg almost always when accelerating. Best I managed was something like 3.9mpg while powering away from some lights. Not as easy is it sounds as the dash is slow to update and with the electronic gubbins turned on the power is restricted. So as it starts to romp you're seriously breaking the speed limit. I don't think you can use all the power until 3rd.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-Jaguar-XJR-R1-Edit...

A Daimler is nice, but it's only a titivated Jaguar. An XJR is special.
