Agreed and I should be respectful of the thread title. biggrin

A good car must have more cylinders than seats.

Indeed, I feel dirty hanging around here with 2 diesel barges, but they do at least have 5 cylinders paperbag

This looks VFM and definitely a candidate for replacing my loyal C-Max (valued at £185 trade in according to AutoTraderlaugh) when it dies. Please die C-Max.

I understand post 2006 facelifts are much better but what are the big bills lurking on these? Or are all the bills big and served to owners on a conveyor belt?

Currently £3800.

Or the estate. I don't think the 407 will ever become a classic but for £2700 before haggle (and i am sure there is haggle in this) this looks a great way to V6-and-slusher your way about.

That is hideous. And yet the 406 and 405 were both great looking cars.

It's only hideous when you look at it from the outside.

I sense a red card has been shown.

You may find this interesting...

My sister had one years back (from new) and they had no end of problems with it, not what you'd perhaps expect from Mercedes.

It'll bankrupt you at a dealer, specialist will be better, cabbies all over europe can't be all wrong mind you - the E Class seems the goto for those guys. smile

The seats on the coupe are great looking things unlike the estate ones

Thread worthy, it's just also awful, but that's always welcome here.

I agree. I could live with a hideous car if it drove well and was really cheap. But I could never live with that colour. Is it gold or lime green?

Absolutely, it's gopping, but still great. Maybe I'm just spoiled by how much of a looker my car is wink

Smartly presented low-mileage W201 in black but I suspect the photos flatter it and it isn't quite at stocking-filler money.

Coolant temperature is very high considering the oil pressure is 2.5bar.

Looks lovely. In the photos!

If mines anything to go by that oil pressure looks pretty typical for tick over, and the temp does to creep up a smidge if left idling. Mine however, seems to run very cool all the time and only creeps up to 80 max. I think I need a new thermostat.

I’d expect 1.5 bar oil pressure at idle it the coolant is that hot. Mines diesel however.

Black over grey with gingercators does dial up the "horizontal homogeneity" (St Bruno, 3:16) to maximum.

Not exactly 1-5 large but it's in the spirit of the thread...I've just taken delivery of a new Volvo S90 and I'm over the moon with it but the biggest concern at the minute is the media system/touch screen.

I never understood people that absolutely slated the idrive in the e65 as complicated and difficult to use, it takes half an hour tops to suss it. The system in the volvo for the radio etc. seems a right pain in the backside due to not having a rotary dial yet I've never heard it get a slating like the e65 used to get.

So many, many options coupled with almost fully touchscreen is somewhat ironic when there's such a focus on safety. I'll hopefully manage to get the voice control working well but I just don't agree with the idea of so much (including fan controls, heated seats etc.) being on a fully touch screen system.
I completely agree, I think touch screens are lethal in a car and almost impossible to use without pressing the wrong thing.

The iDrive in my 530e is great and simple to use, unlike the new system in an E Class that makes no sense at all. Still better than touch screen though.

I'm finding the voice recognition is actually pretty good, will need to practice a bit more to try and remember what to say in each scenario but there's hope yet.

One thing I am finding though, haven't compared proper dimensions between the S90 and an e65 7 series but it doesn't feel any smaller for parking! A busy city centre approaching Christmas will expose that. Suspect the width is more of the issue. All it takes is someone to not be parked very well between their white lines and it can totally throw you to pot.

Adaptive cruise control is truly wonderful though.
