Since JOB's photo went down so well, here is another of a G-Wagen in action, this is the 300 GD that my chum sold last week:fullsizeoutput_1bc0 by Jack O'Brien, on Flickr

Morning WorldBoss, that’s great. If you want to email me my email address is jack.ob1303@hotmail.co.uk, I don’t know why my PH messages don’t seem to work but I’ve had that problem before.
Re Chatsworth meet, there’s the Devonshire arms at Beeley - big car park and decent pub, could follow it with a barge cruise through some of the Peak District. When suits?
I'd definitely be up for a Chatsworth/Peaks meet up, I'm in Sheffield, so it'd be a nice easy/local one for me. Re Chatsworth meet, there’s the Devonshire arms at Beeley - big car park and decent pub, could follow it with a barge cruise through some of the Peak District. When suits?

Thanks, Email sent (don't know if you want to leave it up on the forum, spam bots love an unprotected email). I think you have to turn on PMs in one of the sub menus, it's a pain in the bum.Hopefully I'll be firing up my Xentry unit and finding my shell loyalty card soon

I’d be up for Chatsworth. Some really good roads around the area too. A waft down the A6 and then the Cat and Fiddle is easily in reach.
Cat and Fiddle is 50mph average isn't it? Haven't been up it for years of course.Another fine mess....

Chatsworth is on my doorstep so happy to bring the A8; would bring the Riley but it's being overhauled for a LeJog later in the year.

But when an SWB E38 V12 crops up for £500 more, could you have an E65 instead?

Especially on style 32s.
Oh good god I need that!https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163488595698

As a note it's a very good short cut....there's two on there.

I challenge anyone to find a car with more perfect proportions. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163488595698
Especially on style 32s.
Just the right amount of wheel and tyre sidewall too, just shows you don't need massive rims to look good.

In any case, it's a windy old road and a point to point average of 50mph in any barge will mean rather uncouth progress. Best to cruise and take in the views.

Are we limited to just saloon cars? I found the rear 3/4 of the E38 a bit "bland"....overall it's a nice design and I'm pleased to say I have had one in the past, they are nice cars, but they are not a patch on the newer models for being a barge IMO. They are handsome old things though.
Well, I tend to prefer estates to saloons but there's something so right about the E38. I can't comment on the driving side of things, I'm an armchair bargist, I've never actually owned one! I like to ogle...CAPP0 said:

I'd absolutely love an S600 if my mate bought one and I then drove it every so often. As an ownership proposition, however - you know, to actually use on a daily basis without financial suicide - then I'm completely content with my black-pump powered W221. More torque than everything in the range other than the 600, and I've averaged 35mpg over the last 8000 miles or so. It doesn't have quite the drama of the 600, for sure, but equally the borkage potential is considerably lower.
Is it on steel/conventional air instead of ABC?In terms of engine issues you're probably on parity as the V6 has a few niggles.
