An Audi rarity for your consideration:

I've only seen one of these in the wild, in Rouen about 10 years ago. That one looks like an absolute shed though, looks like it's done three times the mileage.

Goodness you've had some lovely cars...

And an A class too!
Thanks! The ones on the website aren't the only ones I've had over the years as some never made it on to there. I'm thinking particularly of a nice R129 SL320 in silver and probably the most capable all-rounder that I ever owned which was an E39 540i Touring.

The A-Classes...laugh Yes well, in mine and their defence one was bought for my sister and the other when my twins were learning to drive (they didn't see it through). But for what they are (a small cheap car), they were alright and quite versatile little load carriers as the rear seats can be taken right out.

My mate has a Z4 Coupe 3.0Si that he's been to the moon in, with an LPG kit installed for the last 3 or 4 years. He loves it.

I don't really fit in it.
Blimey! You must be really tall Louie? Or is it the roof height that's a problem in them? I've never been in one. I'm 6'2" and don't have a problem at all in the Roadsters even with the roof up.

But, I have a Mercedes R230 SL350 on the way that I've bought and that I'm excited about! smile
Everything crossed for you chap smile
Everything crossed here too now, Tobinen. There's nothing like doing your thorough internet research about potential problems AFTER you've bought a car! yikes

It's the only way I've ever bought a car. It was a far less stressful activity when blind optimisim couldn't be killed by a swift Google search.

Logistics have been arranged - Looks as if I collect the W221 S600 on Sunday!

Really excited! It's going to be a fun project and an awesome smoker.

My w220 600TT will be up for sale in a few months. 170k miles and needs some TLC (plus engine mounts!), But has a eurocharged ECU and TCU tune and moves quite nicely. It'll have 12 months MOT at the time of sale. I'll pay the love forwards and do a good deal for a threader if they are interested.

This is nicely done indeed. Best of luck with it. Very exciting.

All this talk of turbo V12s makes my V6 & V8 look like a diesel Skoda taxi .

Yes, now my take on most internet car horror stories is: "Which cars don't have problems?"

I've since checked engine numbers and although this R230 does have the 3.5L V6 that some engines had the balancer shaft problems this one falls outside of those engine numbers. It does have the potential for the solenoids going wrong apparently but this is a far lesser problem apparently than the other 'engine out £4K job' that I'd read about on other engines. Plus, this car has only 29K miles on the clock and 9 MB main-dealer service stamps. So, it really is the best I could find and do.

I never described it as a desirable rarity. I've drove a couple way back, got some photos of Hans Stuck racing one in the DTM at Donington; they've always been a favourite of mine.

Or those of us with both? (Frankfurt Station Shuttle (thankfully not beige) and Heathrow Executive Express!)

Crappy bloody engine in both. frown

Hopefully it should be an excellent car, it’s certainly one for the brave but WorldBoss seems clued up enough not to be too scared! The allure of significantly sub £5k V12 motoring is extremely strong, there’s no denying that.

Look forward to the induction of another thread car on Sunday!

I like these too - very rare.
The orange lights on that one are off a 200 though - they should be red, like on the 100 Sport nerd Still nice to see.

That looks a smashing mini barge, although I'd have liked one of the more interesting interior colour schemes.. They don't seem to be rusting either. A better small car for the penny pinching barge-man than anything german you'd get for £1500?

It looks good, but sounds like it might be a bit ropey to me - no history, airbag light on, broken sunroof, "NOT A BRAND NEW CAR so does have the odd age related mark"... Hmm.

I'm getting one of these in the next year or so. Will be spending above thread budget though, but they can be had well below thread budget.
