Don’t worry, I’ll let you know if he tries to WBAC it and I don’t go for it....I’m a bit put off by these tales of sudden rust and I have concern over anything with an auto box at this mileage.

Out of interest what’s wrong with the 528i, is it just that the later 530i was more powerful? I have a real soft spot for an I6 but I would guess the 540i is the favoured variant around here.

The 28 has a lot more character than the 30 in my opinion. Very, very sweet engine. 30 might be objectively superior, but simply not as pleasurable to wring-out, in my opinion.

The leather interior looks a bit haggered but I know a chap in Birmingham that could totally transform that for < £500, I reckon.

Are you able to share details? (If he’s good enough for your standards, I’ll be more than happy I’m sure!).

More power, lower revs at motorway speed on the 530, just makes a more refined package.

Some 540 sellers having paid 2-3k would like 20 on top. Honestly this is utter delusion, and yes, I know the seller is a tt, but quite how they can be this much of one for a mis badged M5 I do not know...

Here's his website: https://bespokeleathering.com/

If you scroll through the pictures of two of these cars of mine you'll see a couple of examples of the work he did for me:

Near the bottom of the page in this one:

Agreed! I saw that the other day and really thought they'd even exceeded their own all-time record of utter stupidity I was actually that even they would have the audacity to take people for fools to this extent and hence might have (hopefully and finally) shot themselves in the foot with that joke!

The real reason I am trying to reduce the number of cars I own is a self-justification exercise so I can buy an e55 or M5.

What do we think about this for example:

Virtually identical to my old one, apart from I swapped the gearstick to one that was full leather, as I found the hard one too uncomfortable. No idea if the price is any good, I paid £6k about 8 years ago!

Motorhub, Keighley?

There's a chance that might not even be a BMW, let alone an M5!

Oa,

Even despite what people have said about that particular dealer (and I don't know enough about E55s) but for E39 M5s you've missed the boat by a long way!

Even over 2 years ago, when I had a bit of money surplus to put into cars, I realised that I taken my eye off the quayside and the E39 M5 boat had sailed without me (and the E46 M3 Manual Coupe boat...but I wasn't too fussed about having missed that one having previously had a CSL). That's why I bought the Z4M and the Alpina Z4 Roadster S.

That one you've put up? I almost wouldn't touch that even if you gave it to me! That's got "Money-pit Shed" written all over it! And, you'd never get any money back on that.

That does seem pricey given the mileage. Can't seem many takers for it tbh so might be worth a low ball offer. Always been a fan of the Bluewater colour.

Brilliant thanks - my 124’s bolsters are in a pretty similar condition to your CE’s, so I’ll give him a shout. (Hmm, soda blasting - I’ve been thinking about that!).

It's 3-4 years ago now but he did my whole interior on that CE which included all 4 seats out, head-rests, door-cards, centre console, everything for £500 IIRC. And, his turnaround time was good too...within a few days.
