FFS, British manufacturer produces potentially world-class track / extreme variant of its currently mid-engine supercar, and half of PH moan that 'LT' doesn't equate to an unrealistically extended aero-body on a road car..

Can we get back to comparing this to the GT2 (interestingly, not an ACTUAL GT2 class race car) please.. wink

Have McLaren proclaimed that LT necessarily meant Long Tail since they made the 675LT ?
There are quite a few inspiring combinations to choose from
Little Tosser
Lousy Troll
Laid Tranny
Large Turd
Lazy tt
Lacklustre Twit
... or a more accurate Light (&) Tight ?

Of course they could, just people don't want to. Combined income of 80k p.a for 2 adults in their 30s with 2 children could pretty easily afford one providing they'd paid a mortgage for 10+ years and had equity. Bearing in mind when they've paid the car off after 8 years it'll still be worth 60k plus its not even a terrible move financially. But again, most people are interested and don't want to.
I am an advocate of consumer credit but that scenario you outline sounds absolutely mental.
Aye but it's certainly an affordable route into a brand new Supercar!

Its NOT. Someone doing that is either;

A. Able to buy outright anyway if they wanted because its not a lot to them.
B. Mental.

The alternative is not having a Mclaren. If you really want a Mclaren, you can have one. The option is there! I wouldn't call someone mental for buying one in the above scenario.

Each to their own. Financing one for 8 years qualifies for the asylum in my book.

Compromise: the maths makes it affordable in the literal sense, but assumes stability for an extended period of time.

What a great car - shame they'll only make a limited number of them.

Come on McLaren, give us something different and maybe even at a lower price point!
They did, 540c was £40k down and 1k/month for 8 years or something. A large amount of UK family's could afford that.
Say what now?

I fit all those criteria, and there's absolutely zero hope I could afford those numbers.

I bloody adore Mclaren, but my MX5 will have to continue the commuting duties.

It's not like a live an extravagent lifestyle either.
