My Dad was on the fence about one of these a few years ago, curse his Volvo obsession. He genuinely passed up on one of these... for a 2002 V40 rolleyes

The moniker could well be apt, as they were almost mythical as hardly any one had ever seen one, and their very existence was disputed.

Will see many more years in service as a mini-cab I'm sure...

Meantime, buy a Phaeton.
If you wish to see repair bills which literally are telephone numbers, a Phaeton is definately the car-of-choice.

Almost everything on them is bespoke to them - there are almost no third-party or scrap spares, everything is a dealer part and the prices are mind-bending.

I recently enquired (for a customer) about a door window control module and I'm fairly sure, given the price I was quoted (along with a massive delivery time) that they'd mistaken my enquiry as a request for a new engine...
. When I pass my local Honda dealership (I buy used) I’ m attracted to a sporty Honda .... £7995. When I do a double take, I see that it’s £17995. Back to telephone numbers(sometime mobiles).

Who said these were reliable? I just checked the MOT History for this vehicle and it shows an MOT fail at 84595 miles due to the 'nearside registration Plate lamp not working' smile

Looks like a 'nice barge' to me. Maybe not the most engaging drive but I'm sure it will waft with the best of them.
It will, but if you are the unlucky one...ouch, Nissan QX anyone?

Didn't know much about them but now quite fancy one. Would certainly prefer it to the German competition.

Excellent car... better screwed together than any of the rubbish from Germany or the rest of Europe.

Dreadful turd of a car, with centre console plastics last seen on a 1995 Aiwa stereo.

Yes but those shiny cheap plastics are really well screwed together!

biggrin

Actually they're not - there was a recall to line them all with fuzzy felt, to stop them creaking.

I've recently re-done mine.

I always like the way these look, but as I'm not a retired MD who likes to play golf, I could never consider one. Big thirsty engine in the real world, big tax post 2006, and a dash reminiscent of every other unimaginative Japanese car of the day. Yet another car that had no place in the UK, and sold in small numbers as a result. A car after its time maybe?

Really like this. Much more preferrable than a Phaeton. 4WD takes away the main problem of the old model (which I drove a little, albeit an import).

Hmm: this or a C6? Don't fancy any other luxobarge as much as these two. But try finding a petrol C6.
I've had 2x C6s; both diesel. Very high maintenance cars- I did most of the work myself, but I put more time into maintenance/repairs on those car's than any other I've had in my PH garage. Bushes wore fast; many sensors went... No joke it is cheaper to maintain my DB9. What I learned is, for the same level of quiet in the car and ride comfort, buy a v8 Lexus... which I just nearly did, but splurged on a Maserati QP. Point being for a £5k. budget, you can get an exceptional v8 Lexus of the same vintage as the C6 with a mark Levinson stereo etc. I'd have the Lexus over the Honda legend too...

I had a first generation Legend coupe. It was one of the best motors I ever owned and I still miss it after I sold it when leaving the UK 16 years ago.
My friend here in deepest rural France has a 1992 Legend coupe he bought new in 1992. It was the reason we first crossed paths when we were visiting this area before we even moved here. It has always been in regular use, in preference over the years to his Maserati 3500 GTI, various Jaguars, Mercedes, etc, etc.
You won't hear either of us making snide remarks about the name.

Something different, but really not my cup of tea.

Although, I always had a bit of a soft spot for the earlier Legends (which has a bit more presence that this one).

I refer to mine as the Leg End...or Regendo, as they say in Japan.

Not much, aside from the VTEC gubbins. It used the (then) all new J-series which was the successor to the C-series (in the NSX).

The older Legends used the 90-degree C-series, but only SOHC.

The J-series in this one is a 60-degree - and really quite compact.

The new NSX uses a bespoke design and Cosworth makes the castings.
