Thought the FK8 would be more than 0.5s quicker than the FK2, considering how much Honda go on about the additional aero benefits of the FK8 etc over it's predecessor.. Don't think i'll be chopping in the FK2 for an FK8 any time soon anyhow.

Considering Silverstone has been resurfaced recently and that by most accounts has made lapping faster, this is actually then a slower lap time than its predecessor.

Actually....a very good point. When we were there the other week with British GT, the GT4s were over 2s a lap faster....

Great choice of hot hatches out there now, however deciding on which one to go for based on slightly random lap times wouldn't be the wisest, better to go with the one you like (to drive) best...

I assume from the squealing and understeer that it's the tyres it leaves the showroom with (Conti Sport Contact 6, according to a quick google).
If you put a Michelin Cup 2 or Pirelli Trofeo R type tyre on I'd imagine you could take 10 seconds or more off.
10 seconds?

I think a Pilot Super Sport to a Trofeo was something like 2 second improvement over a 2 minute lap!

Honda have put the start finish point on the 2 videos at different places making direct comparison a bit more difficult, however watching the 2 videos back to back...

The old car looks more neutral especially in the transitions, you can see the amount of corrective lock being put in. Looks more fun...! However the fk8 has higher ultimate grip and corner speeds are marginally faster however the fn2 is quicker to turn in which reduces the gap marginally.

The track layout is different too, with this latest attempt he is using the whole circuit and a bit, especially at Brooklands where on the old video there were bollards. With the fk8 he skips over the curb entirely.

Finally, I'd like to see a smooth driver like Lars Kern have a go, I expect there is more time to come off. The initial tip in is very aggressive and you can hear the front axle being saturated very quickly.
The old car is more fun on the road - has a much more aggressive diff and larier drive. The new can is quicker and a lot, lot smoother. Very efficient, but less entertaining.
