Couple of the old boys at my rowing club have them - immaculate examples. Look great but it would be a no from me with the FWD.

Good to see something different from the euro norm with a V8.

It's not the smallest ever Caddy, though. Poor research. That would be the 1980s Cimarron based on a Chevy Cavalier.

They also did a Catera, which was a rebadged Vauxhall Omega

I always quite liked these as a leftfield choice back in the day and still quite a handsome car in my opinion.

Not sure I'd be brave enough to go for it, but an interesting shed. I likes.

I don’t really get the issue with front drive for this. It’s not a sports car and pretty much irrelevant to the intended use of the car.

There were front drive Audi A8s at the time, for example

But unlike the Omega it had cupholders. It is my one bugbear with the Omega - other than that I think it’s an excellent car

"This produced 300hp at a lofty 6000rpm, somewhat more than a GS ever had"

Not quite true. The 2005 GS430 had 279bhp from a 4.3 litre V8.

I wouldn't buy it but I somehow quite like it... maybe it's the way it looks a bit like a fat Rover 620 if you squint at it?

Wow I have learned something new already today. Well done PH. I never knew that "ensmallening" was actually a real word. It reminds me of the fictitious Simpsons' antonym "embiggens" as attributed to Jebediah Springfield.

As for the car? To use another Simpsons word: "Meh".
You obviously missed the use of "embiggening" further down in the article!

Looks like one of the less exciting cars from GTA 4
Yep. Albany Primo (http://gta.wikia.com/wiki/Primo).

Interesting car, and an important step for Cadillac to drag their cars out of the "land yacht" era, but how do you maintain one of these beasts on this side of the Atlantic? Mustang and Camaro fans will argue their cars are simple and cheap to service, but I can't imagine many UK garages would have much experience of a mid-90s Northstar.

There is something slightly appealing about this, but when you read all the potential pitfals / issues stated in the article and other comments here, you suddenly realise what a huge money pit this could be.

Appeal now severely dented!

Great on its home turf, but doesn't work here for me. Same as all American cars; just lose their appeal when they're elsewhere.

Not an issue when I drove one, the slushbox mitigates the might Northstar's torque (when it's not leaked it's lifeblood everwhere).

Is drive layout that much of an issue on a barge though, as long as it can get the power down ?
