RE: Noble M600: PH Carpool
Discussion
I was one of the people who took a dim view of the article being published while the car was up for sale. The reason is simple: it makes it impossible to read the write-up - which I did enjoy reading, in the most part - without mentally acknowledging that it might be hugely skewed by bias. If the article had said 'yeh it's an ok car but its faults are x y z' then the author would literally be costing himself money, maybe tens of thousands of pounds - after all, most, if not all, would-be buyers of a Noble M600 are going to be PistonHeads regulars.
That's not to say the author hasn't been entirely straight, there's no accusation here - just that the inherent doubt casts a shadow over the article. And it's not an attack on the author - it's more a criticism of PistonHeads. The site should have a policy to delay articles like this for after the cars are sold. Not doing that undermines the credibility of the site, IMHO.
I don't buy the 'he said he was going to sell it so it's all above board' argument - the article closes with "After experimenting with many cars over the years, I'm relieved to have finally found a car that I've fully bonded with. I've always had a desire to order a brand new car though, built to my specification and to keep forever; therefore unless a huge lottery win provides me with the funds to buy a McLaren F1 or Ferrari F50, my next step will likely be a brand new M600. Watch this space...". That's not "this car is currently for sale" - in fact, the first line makes it sound very much like this is a keeper - if anything, he's going to buy another Noble and keep this one too.
EDIT TO ADD:
Having reread the thread, perhaps I did go in a bit hard on you L33, for which I apologise. As you say, you were writing an article as you had been requested to do. My beef is with PH for the timing of the article.

One things for sure - next time I'm asked to take time out of my already very busy day to write something, I won't bother - nice one guys. Well done
No need to be touchy fella. I'm sure you can see why people are taking issue with PH over this. It's all healthy debate for the greater good of the PH community / readership as a whole.EDIT TO ADD:
