Almost anything if you have imagination, time and dosh.

But if you want to consider a similar idea, using modified parts all from one manufacturer, this V8 front wheel drive one takes a prize from me:

I seent-it. I lovet-it!

Next step is for someone to drift this thing. The shorter the wheelbase, the more difficult to drift ...

If it were mine I'd be going back to Aston and saying "now its passed SVA (or what ever), can you take an inch off the width of each of the wheel arch extensions, please".
But then it would fail the next MOT wouldn't it?
Yes, but since the plate doesn't come back to anything at all on VehicleEnquiry, it's fairly safe to assume that it's not road legal.
No. SVA (it's been IVA for about ten years now) & MoT are completely different. Generally speaking IVA ensures the car complies with construction & use regs for a new car, Mot ensures it's safe enough to use on the road. Once through IVA you can do anything except cut the chassis / monocoque.

I think it's fantastic.

Or change the engine if you're the original registrar under IVA.

As a daily driver of a 'proper' iQ 1L manual 90bhp I can confirm that even it's 0-60 (13.6s) is limited by wheel spinning grip!

It's nice to see people doing silly things with this car... aligns with the iQ being the real 'new mini'. There's quite a few cool V8 minis made over the years (eg http://www.spagweb.com/v8mini/).

Shame Toyota stopped making the iQ and hasnt replaced it, a great car at being what it is.
I must admit that I have always wanted an iQ and told myself that the moment I got a contract that required train travel, and hence the need for a station car park car, I would have an iQ in a flash.

The V8 Cygnet looks utterly bonkers. I love it. cloud9

Likewise the Nissan Juke GT-R and the Nissan Micra with the mid-engined V6. Oh, and the Clio V6. All wonderfully bonkers.

Utterly stupid and pointless, a complete Frankenstein's monster of a car that probably would lick the windows if you'd let it... and I love it.

At least if someone mentions a Cygnet now I'll think of this first.

Or the owner doesn’t want the cars real plate to be used in a press release so they’ve stuck one that’s vaguely close to what the car is as a private plate...

Agreed. Fine sense of humour from both Aston Martin and their customer.

Who cares if it's a bit ugly.

V8 in tiny car FTW.

"It's not often that you read about the length of a torque tube in the opening paragraph of a car's press bumf - but in the case of the one-off V8 Cygnet, it's a standout feature."

Well how long is it then?????

I can't believe there are people finding negatives with this.

it's utterly ridiculous and therefore completely loveable.

I almost guarantee that whoever commissioned this can afford a Ferrari 458 Speciale to take to the track, and a race prepped caterham, and a road going hypercar, Range Rover, Rolls Royce AND still have plenty left over to indulge on this. It's their money they can spend it on whatever craziness they like. The engineers at Q aren't wasting their time because they will have been paid for this and that's their job; to let well heeled customers turn fantasy into reality.

As a car enthusiast I'm very glad there are people out there willing to do utterly stupid and irrational things like this. Yes it's unnecessary and pointless, but so is almost anything with a 4.7 litre V8.
This. Although being no faster than the donor car kinda disappoints................

By "donor car", you don't mean the Cyg...

Actually, that raises a thought about the road legality. Even IVA'd, it'd have to go on a Q - used parts from multiple donor vehicles, way below the 8pt, and a modified monocoque.

So how long is the torque tube?

Oh, and "Y8CYG" doesn't appear to be a real plate. So not road-legal? No surprise there. But V8CYG is a 4.7 litre petrol black... Toyota.

Land Cruiser. No, really. Look it up.
How do you know its a Land Cruiser? When I looked on the DVLA it just says Toyota. So, assuming the started with an IQ rather than cutting up an actual signet, couldn't it be a 4.7 litre Toyota? Its near enough black.

IQ could’ve been black to start with and not updated yet...

The more I look at this, the more I love it. cloud9

I would imagine that it shares the characteristics of similarly over-powered cars with a very short wheelbase and wide track - think Metro 6R4 and Clio V6.

You boring little tit.
Yep, if anyone tries to be objective about a V8 powered IQ they really need a decent holiday.
