RE: Singer 'Dynamics and Lightweighting Study'
Discussion
Singer get around it legally by converting a customers existing car rather than officially selling the cars once completed, the reality is they source a donor for the customer, sell it to them and then convert it after.
Porsche seem to be a bit more chilled than other car makers and realise its all good publicity for their brand anyway by not making a fuss.
Companies seem to be getting a lot more savvy about PR and Social media these days, so easy to do a miss step, shoot yourself in the foot and alienate your customer base.

Is it a Porsche or is it a Singer? Porsche aren't making anything out of this, so I'm just wondering what they actually think of it.
I suspect that there isnt a lot they can do and a handful of cars to well heeled Porsche enthusiasts isnt going to dent Cayman, Boxster, Macan etc sales, plus objecting would make them look like pricks, its all publicity and a massive compliment/homage. I suspect/hope the Porsche Top Brass love what they are doing as they are, after all car people.Companies seem to be getting a lot more savvy about PR and Social media these days, so easy to do a miss step, shoot yourself in the foot and alienate your customer base.

Doesn't this car miss the point?
If you want really bloody quick you buy a new supercar/hypercar, if you want character & involvement you buy an older car & enjoy it for what it is.
Just don't get this, despite really wanting to & having a life long love of most things 911.
I'd say that it rather spectacularly hits the point. Why wouldn't you want modern supercar performance with old car character and involvement in the same package? If you want really bloody quick you buy a new supercar/hypercar, if you want character & involvement you buy an older car & enjoy it for what it is.

Exactly. I like the clever but still reasonably subtle body mods. I want one.Nice write up, however, you'd think a motoring writer would know the difference between quick and fast though.

Having to go backwards in styling tells u something cars are getting too big old 911 versions were perfect size not the fat wide versions of today
Having sold more 911s today than ever before tells you something - Porsche know precisely what their target market wants and is extremely profitable as a result.I sold my 964 to a guy last year that is using it as a donor vehicle for a Singer. Apparently it'll be unveiled at Pebble Beach in August...... Can't wait to see it finished!
I was told that Williams engine alone is around $200k, the estimate for the finished car is around $2m. Looks better in that colour than the original Green concept.

Some truly wonderful details, and I can't wait to hear that engine at 9k rpm
But is it just me, or does it look a little fussy compared to their earlier efforts?
I do see your point, but I imagine a 500bhp air cooled engine probably warrants most of those vents! But is it just me, or does it look a little fussy compared to their earlier efforts?
