I agree. At the expected price point, that could have been a great sports car..

THATS AN AWESOME LOOKING CAR - HOW MANY NAMES COMING OFF THE TVR WAITING LIST FOR THIS ONE INSTEAD

NOBLE CARS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN BETTER THAN THE EQUIVALENT TVR COUNTERPARTS

M400 VS SAGARIS --M400 WINS
GTO3R VS TUSCAN GTO 3R WINS
M12 VS 350 M12 WINS

M600 - NO COMPETITION
M500 VS NEW GRIFF -- TVR ALREADY LOOKS AGED BEFORE IT HAS EVEN STARTED TO BE MADE NOBLE WINS AGAIN WITH THIS ONE - ONLY LET DOWN IS THAT LEE NOBLE WASNT FULLY INVOLVED

WE MUST HAVE A TVR VS NOBLE REVIEW OLD AND NEW TO CONFIRM

'TVR vs Noble stuff'
Without getting too 'into it' The current TVR (Griffith) and Noble (M500) aren't in the same price segment. TVR sub 100k. Noble 100 - 200k.

Also worth not getting too bandy-legs about this since the Noble is currently a hollow model and not a car yet.

Lotus are quite the puzzle. They've been pretty successfully pumping out age old cars with little development costs for years, and are still popular with buyers as they are so good. Yet they can't seem to be able to get anything new beyond the artists scetchpad.

Meanwhile, Noble keep bashing the hammers and spanners in their little sheds and produce beauties like this.

All credit to noble, can't wait to see these in the metal - but I wonder what Noble has that gives their backers confidence that Lotus doesn't?

Lee Noble smile

Also, much lower volumes and more modest aspirations.

The ability to get a car off the drawing board and onto the road, probably. I dread to think how much money Lotus have thrown down the drain over the last 20 years with concepts which have never come to anything. Lotus's biggest problem has all too often been their own management.

Decent looking motor, can see it being far to pricey though.

Circa 150k is the target according to a conversation today.

What happened to Lee Noble? There was a lot of fanfare round his new project - I think it was called Fenix (sic) but it all went quiet...

Indeed, but I meant what's the advantage to the buyer of steel or aluminium over GRP. Why do people look down on GRP as somehow an "inferior" material. As far as I can see having owned cars of both, GRP is simply better than steel for the end-user.
Probably the association with low volume cars and sheds, and cars allegedly smelling of glue (something Clarkson never failed to mention when reviewing a TVR, for example). Plus the association with cars like the Reliant Robin and Bond Bug.

CFRP doesn't seem to suffer from the same stigma, probably because Carbon Fibre is considered to be "cool".
I never said it was inferior from a technical perspective, but I’m sure most buyers at this price point would’ve perceive it negatively.

I don't doubt it; this market is far more about perception and bling than anything else... however they arguably don't need the car to appeal to "most" buyers, I doubt they're aiming to sell more than about a car per week. They wont be aiming for even Lotus levels of sales let alone Ferrari ones.

I’ll be very, very surprised if they sell 52 cars a year.

I wish Noble well, but they are making cars that hardly anyone wants to buy.

I think that'll come down to how much penetration they can get in China.

The mock-up car shown almost certainly has the lights straight from a Corvette, and the production version will most likely be the same.

The various bits and bobs on a car that are required by legislation are a complete nightmare for a low-volume manufacturer, as the tooling and type approval process can go into six figures for each part. It’s a whole lot easier to buy front lights from Chevrolet at $1k a pair, that already have worldwide type approval and are readily available in large quantities.

Nah mate, everything single thing should be bespoke, and the whole thing should cost less than 60 grand otherwise it won’t sell....
