Flow through those larger 12V is probably the same as through the smaller 16V and fairly irrelevant to boost pressure. Also 0,5l displacement is still considered optimal in the automotive world.
Seems to me your sceptic prediction is a much wilder guess than my (semi-professional I might add) guess. But for the sake of argument, if boost pressure were 0,3bar higher, what will you do with that information??
Seems to me you're making it up as you go along. How heavy are each of those 12 valves and 3 pistons in comparison? Cut down on the coffee a bit maybe? You lot just assume that because it is three instead of 4 cylinders, it's somehow magically technologically inferior, while progress dictates the opposite.
Just trying to be helpful , won't make that mistake again...
Oh, the coffee is figurative, don't drink the stuff.
I've got a mk7 stage 2 fiesta. The mk8 appeals due to the better interior, better ride (hopefully?) and the 3 cylinder. Wifey's mini is a 1.5 3 banger and it sounds very nice. Having said the the mk7 fiesta with its symposer doesn't sound too bad either. Apparently even though its a 3 cyl its actually a heavier engine than the mk7s! Car is a bit heavier too.
I hate that rear end though and I am waiting to see how reliable this new engine is and if mountune will fettle it any.
My ST is a 2013 and they've all (64 plate and older) been recalled to Ford to have the cooling system replaced. Same issue as the old ecoboosts, those stupid thin plastic coolant pipes break, instant loss of coolant leading to head overheating and cracking, high pressure oil leak as a result and it goes up in flames.

Isn't the 3-cylinder Ford engine extremely unreliable? And thats the 150bhp version - 200bhp = even less reliable?
Its been around from 2012, there were some failed ot the coolant pipe issue as a previous poster mentioned but there are hundreds of thousands of them out there and they dont all seem to be failing. There is nothing wrong with having three cylinders in terms of reliability, in fact its one piston, once bore, four valves and a main bearing less complicated !
200 bhp from 1.5 litres is not a huge deal these days, Peugeot do 260 bhp from 1.6.

I can't think of anything else this side of £30k that interests me more than one of these at the moment. Cracking little car. Maybe not quite as good looking as the mk7, but that's more than offset in my opinion by the vastly improved interior. If the engine has anything like as much character, and sounds anything like as good as the 140 1.0 in my mate's ST Line, it will be a cracker.
i30N or this is what I’m thinking on next year. I’ll see what depreciates more come March or so. Klippie said:
I like the look of the ST and it being available as a 3 door is a major plus point these days as most of the cars are now 4 door only.
Can’t wait to have a go in one....when will they be in the showrooms.
I'd expect it will be the last version available with 3dr even as an option. Can’t wait to have a go in one....when will they be in the showrooms.
I don't mind the looks at all, I suspect a lot of the hatred is from current or previous Fiesta ST owners - which happens whenever a newer model arrives, then in 12-24months they seem to come round to it and buy one lol

They already are, I drove past the Ford dealer in Peterhead last week and they had one in. Can’t wait to have a go in one....when will they be in the showrooms.
