What a wally. Good result. People's standards seem to suffer the most when they 'need' to get somewhere as quick as possible, be it driving or cycling their commute or competing in a triathlon in this case. You still get muppets on all forms of propulsion outside of these times, more likely those who are beyond help, but the proportion of willful bellendery increases on the way to / from work.
Clearly Mr Plumb is a helmet for hitting the horse.

But as was said at the time, why would you take your allegedly "not good around cyclists" horse out TWICE* during the day of a major event held every year for the last 25+ years when there had been signs up on the course for weeks beforehand?

I've done this race several times btw and there are a lot of more "serious" competitors though. So I've seen several powerful director types riding like dicks. I don't think he life ban will make the slightest difference to those types. They brief at race start not to drop gel wrappers on the course, but I've still seen this "type" slamming them to the floor to make a statement (that they are a mainly) so a little st riding will not even raise a thought in their feeble minds

* She had been to her stables early around 7am iirc (when the event was already running) and was returning at around 9am when the last few waves were on the course when the incident occurred. Not saying she had no right to be there, and she should have been injured. But does seem a curious thing to do. But nowt as righteous as the horsey set.

It's amusing that most the people crying about cyclists have the most boring cars.

It's a frustration thing.

Alas, from experience, those that get frustrated/angry/steaming about such irrational things would not be affected by nicer surroundings. The surroundings of Her Majesty's Accommodation, should they allow their irrational hatred to manifest too far, might be the only caveat to that wink

Cyclist run over by lorry; four months in hospital, of which six weeks was in a coma, tells court "He would like to reach out to Mr Philpott (lorry driver) to tell him it is all OK and he should get on with his life as best as possible."

It makes no difference if you cycle two by two or single file as was proved today. Idiots will be idiots. Mk4 Golf being a prime example. Wouldn't expect anything less though.

That's IT! I am no longer defending Mazda drivers!

Pootling along Hawley Lane, Farnborough, this morning after dropping my wife off at hospital, and I spotted a dark "hole" in the pretty closely packed line of oncoming traffic. Only it wasn't a "hole" at all, but a COMPLETELY UNLIT Mazda estate.

Who the juddering fk is that stupid that they drive along a busy road at commute time A FULL HOUR BEFORE SUNRISE with ABSOLUTELY NO LIGHTS ON whatsoever? Hmmm?

So, using the special "all cyclists must be twunts because I saw a badly behaved one once" algorithm that I've gained special limited access to, I added 'Mazda' and 'Driver' to the data set, and it has calculated, based on this one example, that there is an incredibly high probability that ALL Mazda drivers are in fact Twunts of the highest order, and that I should stop defending them at once.

That'll learn 'em... wink
