I tried to buy the GT3 kit but was told that I don't have a track record of buying lego kits.

If I bought 3 "death stars" and "disney castle" they might take a deposit from me though...
Had you built a relationship with your local Lego store though? Really, you should have highlighted how strong your social media presence is within the model making community, but then I guess you can always pay overs on the second hand market, so it's not the end of the world.
Clearly I have a better relationship with my local Lego store than Porsche dealer, I walked in & got a GT3RS to take away that day on the day in was launched. Sadly, no paint to sample though.
Fair points, I was gutted.

Spent hours selecting the right contrast stitching for the dash as well.

came here to say what a lovely and fun bit of product news this is

I was amused -- but not surprised! -- to find a number of critical and moaning responses

even for a bunch of toy blocks which, all of us are fully aware, are predicated on the rectilinear

lol rolleyes

has anybody noticed that the article itself is entertaining and very well written?

They could make a perfect model with loads of bespoke parts, the joy of Lego is getting as near as possible using limited resources.

Its why people love Raspberry Pies and Arduinos, its why people get creative with number plates, its why Minecraft is popular, its why people still make music on 8 bit computers.

We like, in a world with so many possibilities and so much scope, we like some imposed limitations and problems to work around, it gives things context.

This is part of the reason we love Lego and I got disappointed when my kids got kits that were not made from the standard parts, they lost their way.

Ok, it looks a bit out of proportion (Bond Equipe was a good shout) but thats its charm, that and it will go together perfectly and retain a lot of what you pay for it, possibly even appreciate.

Stylistically, it's limited by being Lego.
In terms of functionality... I see your cynicism, and raise you video of the ejector seat in action.

Never mind the styling, for the ejector seat alone I could forgive it being built out of pink bricks. smile

Ok you win !

That actually is quite an impressive ejector seat mechanism - but it's still pig ugly.

Its 1/8 scale, the same as GT3RS & Chiron, from what I've read - so good value for the size.

I like Lego but not a major fanboy. I have a few models in my room at work.

IMO the Mini and VW Camper are much more successful reproductions than the Aston.

Indeed just the blues; 3 chords, 1, 4 and 5. More with less.
