Yeah. My understanding is that any dealer can sell them if they wish. Renaultsport dealers are ‘obligated’ to do so.

Looks great!

And having driven the standard model in 1.2tce 130bhp Dynamique S trim....i can confirm it's a nice car to drive...(the RS will be exactly the same, of course!)

Looks good but reinforces my assumption that the base cup offers better VFM although difficult to gauge the price delta. As the Cup pack was free at launch, the difference is bound to be £2,500+ and presumably you can't have the track friendly 18' wheels on a Trophy. Happening the Recaros option is great though although the new normal seats are quite nice and track friendlier than the old ones.

The Trophy is bound to hold its money better though based on the old, which is quite irrational again, but there you go.

I like this a lot!

So many cars in this sector now I would actually buy with my own money.

Sorry, but the Civic Type R is just not my cup of tea.. but the Golf R, the Peugeot 308GTI and the Hyundai i30N definitely....and this....what a great time it is if you need a quick 5 door hatchback...

This is more like it! But everyone keeps missing the best feature on the new Megane RS - interior strips of colour changing LEDs!

Anyway, just putting aside the rose-tinted specs for a moment, is this the best ever hot hatch line-up of cars available right now at the same time? What an amazing choice we have, everything from mad to subtle, 4 wheel drive, front and rear and the best thing is none of them are rubbish!

If you bought a Golf R, an RS Megane, Civic Type R or Hyundai I30N for example I reckon you would be happy and smiling in all of them.

Great choice if:
A) you could see one before buying one.
B) you don’t mind another edition being available before you take delivery of this one.
wink
In fairness to Renault here, they said the Trophy 300 was coming in Q3 when they announced the 280.

I'm waiting delivery of my 280 at the moment, should be here in a couple of weeks. Yeah it's always a bit annoying when a new version of your car comes out (especially when your own one hasn't turned up yet!), but Renault were very clear on it, and I jumped on the free Cup pack option smile

I'm also ok with it as it's my daily driver and I'm not going back to non-heated seats - Renault don't typically fit them to Recaros (though I do see they're an option rather than standard).

I’am guessing the Speedlines wrapped in some sticky Michelin’s will follow soon as an option on the Trophy?

I think that looks great. The wheels are a little fussy but wouldn't be surprised if there ends up being different options.

Overall though it's a good looking car, as mentioned more subtle than the Focus RS and Civic Type-R so for someone like me, well into my 30s, this is loud and lairy enough without feeling like I'm trying to re-live my 20s! More interesting looking than a Golf-R though so I think it's a winner.

That's it. The nearest Renault dealer to me that's allowed to sell this car is over 40min away.

It's not a special car. My local dealer who's 5 minutes away should be allowed to sell and service them.

This is the only thing that puts me off. I don't want to waste half a day driving back and forth just to get it serviced or have them look at something.
I understood that any dealer could sell you one, but the RS specialists had more available and oculd offer better service?
You are correct, any dealer can sell and service them. The RS Specialists are much more likely to actually have one though!
That contradicts what my local dealer said to me. Not allowed to sell. Has to be sold through Renault sport only dealerships. Think I might give them another ring.

I’m guessing they have told you that because they don’t think “we are choosing not to sell any because we can’t be bothered with it all” has quite the same ring to it laugh

And herein lies the problem with owning a Renault.

Every time Renault launches a new Megane I think, what an ugly mess.

Then they launch an RS version in yellow.

Looks great and no doubt will go great. Interesting to see a full HH shoot-out, Pistonheads I take it you have this planned??

As others have said, not keen on the fussy wheels. Diamond cut alloys are horrible things, even more so after a years or so! Not sure what the 'Fuji' wheels will be like but a set of 18" Speedlines or OZ Superleggera would do the trick.

I really really like the look of that. As a self confessed RenaultSport Fan boy I am seriously tempted, even though I've not long bought a mk2 TTRS plus! As eluded to already, great selection of hot hatches available at the moment..

I moved from a Megane R26 to a Golf R and I am not happy! The Golf is a completely different to RS products, RS makes playful cars and the Golf R is the opposite to this, sober and controlling as opposed to engaging and cheeky. I have never once just taken the Golf for a drive whereas the Megane would encourage you to take the scenic route home. It is my own fault, I bought the Golf based on hype as opposed to test driving it.

Kudos to Renault to announce the car before taking orders on the regular version, and for clearing the car with increased power through WLTP and Euro6c. Remember it's still a 1.8 so specific power it's halfway towards a (much more expensive) A45...

Hope they do well. If Renault make an (lightweight power) estate (untapped niche market) I can have one too..

What is your criteria for the "Drive to the office:" option? I'm intrigued.
