I pulled into my car park and spotted the passenger side tyre of the car next to me was as bald as my head!!! Honestly, it was so bald it looked like a formula one car tyre.
I casually walked around the car and was not surprised to see the same on the driver side and both rear wheels with about half a mill of tread on each.
I scribbled a little note to put on the windscreen and it follows.... Hi, I have just noticed your tyres and need to let you know that you will be awarded three points for each of your tyres and a hefty fine even possibly killing someone. Goodluck!!!!
I don't really know what else to do except keep away from all black Renault megans in the Swadlincote area.
I even watched the car owner who was incidentally a visiting nurse in a blue uniform go to her car, pick up the note and screw it up, got in her car and drove off.
Do you think she has gone straight to the tyre place? I should hope so and considering her profession is to heal people I would hope she has a conscience which is pricked when she steps into her car in the morning.

I would've added to the note "I have taken photos of all 4 tyres, along with your vehicle reg and vin number which will be sent to the police, please do expect a visit soon" for extra encouragement to get new tyres.

I know someone whose front tyres are pretty much at the legal limit but they don’t care.

As it’s a lease car they will be giving it back in 6 months, so don’t want to spend on new tyres.

Crazy confused Seems a lot of people don’t care until they are forced to change the tyres by a MOT/the Police. I hope I’m not in front of them in the wet...

Best bet is to undo the valve stems, if they go to the police then they will be risking at least 3 points, all your doing is preventing crime.

Do you think I should write myself a stern note ?
If you’re bald and already own a bike, then the one other thing insecure bald men seem to do, is grow a beard or some funky facial hair. If that doesn’t fill the void of lost masculinity you still have, you may as well try the note.

Good idea.

After all no lease company will check the car over before they take it away!!

Good on you.
Just had my 320d mot'd last week and advisory on rear tyres close to legal limit so getting them changed next week. I always check so was surprised i hadn't picked it up. Was the inner wear which i had obviously neglected to check!

In regards to this no more you could have done as the amount of peeps who wait until mot time to be told would be a fair margin !

He was probably worried that the first post might be an antsy reply from someone who hasn’t even been on here for a year.

If they're close to the legal limit then they're not going to last 6 mths unless the car is barely used. If they're not legal when the car goes back then they're going to get reamed for some premium new tyres. Usual drill with lease cars is to put some part-worn's on.

One of my daughters is a visiting NHS worker, as well as being a mum with a young family. She is just ridiculously busy with both work and home life and every time anything happens to her car it's a right faff to sort it out. Funnily enough she had tyres last week after I'd been mithering her for months - turned out it's a fairly unusual size so they had to be ordered, so trip back to the tyre place was needed. Then they hadn't come in, so needed a third visit.

A brake issue needed three visits to the dealer too - at the first one they told her the brakes were fine - apparently they couldn't hear the acoustic pad wear indicator. I insisted she take it back and she thought I was being an arse as the garage said it was OK. Dealer hardly ever answers the phone straight off and then calls he back when she's with patients so she can't take the call.

All this is on a fairly new Honda Jazz - a car I steered her towards for its reliability and simplicity.

Your saying you don't think its an odd way to start your way onto a forum, join up apparently to tell us someone has bald tyres. Plus the fact that he hasn't returned to the thread doesn't bode well. But seeing as your 'superior' you must be right, that's how it works doesn't It?

Why bother - it isn't a hate crime aimed at either the "Snowflake" generation or one of the Gobby minorities so the police won't even bother reading it, unless the perpetrator does over 33 mph passing a camera in a built-up area on leaving the crime. Then the full force of the law will descend upon them.

I have a neighbor that does this type of policing
I actually like him and we get on well but he does suffer from vandalism when everybody is a sleep. We live in a very peaceful part of the country .
If you do this type of thing your only looking for trouble

Were they actually dangerous given the lack of rain in many parts of the country? Did you test their dry grip vs new tyres before leaving the note?

I would not want to be driving around any car with barely legal or illegal tyres.

There's no excuse when you can get budgets or part worn for next to nothing on most cars. They are not ideal but they will surely be safer than bald tyres!
