Because you can charge extra for the Imagine.

Marketing gumph aside, I really think these will fly out of showrooms, and deservedly so. There haven't been non-premium large fastback options for a while.

Consider it a Rover SD1 for the modern age, but one that won't fall apart after one year.

I'll also bet an internet pint that they'll be serving as unmarked police cars before too long.

I really like this car, and actually commented how I hoped they’d make a Fastback N when the hatch came out.
However, have you ever actually seen a fastback i30 on the road? It’s nowhere near Rover SD1 sized. To me, the closest thing to an SD1 these days is an Audi A7. The i30 fastback is more the size of an A3 saloon.

Fair point; even allowing for the growth of cars the i30 Fastback is still about 10cm shorter.

It's still usefully bigger than most hatches though. And people forget how much the Octavia has grown in 3 generations... the Mk1 was a similar size to this.

I think it looks good! Reminds me of the S3 saloon which is yummy.

I hope they make an estate version!

I love the philosophy for the N cars but the styling is pretty bland.
I know packaging a car for everyday use - to seat 5 in comfort and have room for the shopping etc. isn't easy but it does look disappointingly blobby to me.
The amount of bodywork above the wheel arches just make it look bulky.
A DTM profile is unrealistic but it would be so much better with the wheels mounted higher into the body.

Well this is one thing, but thanks to bringing my attention to the Veloster N... what a fantastic looking thing! Such a shame we're not getting it over here.

Didn't the original Veloster have that weird 1 door on one side and 2 doors on the other side thing? Looks like the N is a traditional 3 door.

Nice looking car. Really like the unassuming, less flashy designs these days.

Manual only is the way to go. No posers allowed. But 0-60 in 5.9? Ouch. Five seconds even is common for most sedans these days.

Add in a two-door model and I think we have something special here.

But more importantly, why is this stupid massive grey box still at the bottom of the screen?

FWD cars will always suffer in 0-60 comparisons. It's a law of diminishing returns as you get rid rearward weight shift and hence no traction. Even a 400bhp monster is unlikely to crack 5.5 if it's FWD.

Noone drives like that in the real world anyway, so 50-70 is a far more interesting metric.

Best I managed was like 4.9 to 60 , FWD manual with 340hp , but semi slicks at Santa Pod.

On the road it was around 5.5 as you mentioned.

4.9 is very impressive!
What was that in?
