PH, maybe come up with a more catchy name for this imaginative used car pricing section, how about ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?

Everyone I know who buys or sells cars says that market is only holding together for the rarest/genuinely special cars - everything else is overpriced and some people are going to get their pants taken down quite soon.

I know a chap who has a nice Cosworth - he turned-down £60K at the end of last year and he's not seen an offer north of £45K since. A similar car in this weeknd's Silverstone Auction failed to sell at slightly over £60K reserve and yet TWO RSS500s made north of £80K - genuine rarity over relative commonality??

http://www.silverstoneauctions.com/silverstone-cla...

Looking through that - the proper rare cars (M3, 190 etc.) sold at strong prices (£135K for an M3 and £155K for the 190!!) but a 964 3.6 didn't make it's £200K+ asking price (and that's not really a surprise)

The RS2000 sold poorly but I think the fad for Mk1/2 Escorts is waning (as new shells become available - make your own car for less!!)

There's a lot of coat-tail hangers in the market and a lot of people sitting on inventory which isn't really worth it's sticker and isn't moving - like the housing market, a lot of things are selling nowhere near the sticker (and out of the back door too) - it's only a matter of time...

People need to learn the difference between value and worth - but never forget that there's always 1 rich idiot...

doesn't really matter how good it is as they will never be driven. They're artworks now :-)
That’s true, and a real shame. I’d far rather see an article about one of these which has just had its 300,000mile service. It’d have quite a story to tell!

Rather have a 4.0l 997 GT3 RS and £200k left over to not worry about actually driving the damn thing...
How small does your gentleman sausage need to be to think type of car is required? Vulgar, over-priced, naff, lame, etc.
Massive disrespect to the owners, such a shameful waste of money.
