It's still the ugliest car ever to have been made in the history of history.
Always amazes me that Honda don't offer two choices, the standard chavvy boy racer styled version and a toned down version. Bet they would sell a bucket load of the latter. But they don't, and so everyone chooses the Golf GTI or another golf variant.
I completely agree. I intend to replace my Fiesta ST next year due to a growing family, and as such I am very much in the market for a segment up hot hatch. 38 going on 21, I still adore my hot hatches!

I’ll be considering a Golf R, the new Megan RS or a Civic Type R. Having previously owned Type R’s in the past I have no doubt that this latest version is epic to drive but I simply couldn’t live with the styling. Such a pity..

My local Honda dealer threw me the keys whilst my NSX was having an oil change a few months back - I was very unimpressed with the drive to be honest. It just felt like a warmed-over airport rental, with added torque-steer at the top of the rev range. No doubt it was quite brisk, but not in a nice way.
The best thing to be said about it was that you couldn't tell what it looked like from the inside. Sorry Mr Honda.

...Although that is a bit like going to bed with Scarlett Johansson and suddenly waking up next to Scarlett Moffatt. I’d be unimpressed too!

Good good! Smashing machines smile

I wouldn’t take these wheel and spoiler combos too literally. Mules often roll around with all manner of junk that may or may not be a reflection of the final product.

Seems too early for a general facelift of this Civic. Perhaps a Mugen or Type RR special edition to facilitate continued dominance in Lap Wars? Idle speculation on my part, of course, and personally I don’t care about production car laptimes, but bring it on Honda! thumbup

Three rear centre exhausts of seemingly completely random sizes. Was there a discussion in a boardroom where they concluded this was a good idea ? Was it the same group of clowns that passed the new Disco number plate position ?
It's essentially to stop droning and actually has a fair bit of engineering behind it (same as on the 458 Italia I think?)... Here's an interesting article on it.

There's a brand new red one that is parked up on the road near where I work. It is a very striking car and grabs my attention every time I see it. I don't think I could live with the styling, but it certainly makes a statement.

I think the reason people buy the Honda is because they like the OTT looks.
Nothing wrong with OTT, just looks wrong here.

I've got one so I'm biased........

Well I've actually got the previous model (FK2) with 310bhp and I love it. I personally think it's better looking than the current model because they had sort of hidden the lines of the rear doors/handles to still keep the 2 door bodyline shape

It's a proper hyper hatch and IMHO looks like a hot hatch should look. At the same time I get why some don't like all the spoilers etc, but that's why the S3 and Golf R exist!!

I think Honda should be applauded for making the car in the first place and most of the aero is there for a reason because ultimately this is an unlimited 167mph car.

At the same time we can get all our camping gear in the huge boot and with the cruise control on at 75mph, it will return over 40mpg.

Ours is 18 months old and hasn't missed a beat yet.

I bet they would get a load of people looking at them, before buying the Golf anyway.

Looks good without wing, But can't see exterior changes being dramatic.

Red one looks like it's pictured on the 20" Forged Modulo alloys, £2.2k, a piece... wobble

It may not feel special if you're daily driver is NSX, but if you compare this with its competitors (megane, golf, leon, i30 etc) it certainly does feel much more special than those cars to drive IMO.

My guess is that's exactly what they're doing - keep a GT top of the range with 20" rims and big spoiler, then bring in a "business" edition or similar, small wing, smaller wheels, bit more toned down to fit in with company car drivers.

Type R history has never had such a car though, it's always been an extreme vehicle and tbh that's really its USP vs. a bland golf.

Honda lost this the minute they turbocharged the Type R.
