Is an extra 2.7 litres and six more cylinders really "only" worth 2.27 seconds?
Fair enough the Porsche is turbocharged, but I would have expected the Lambo to be substantially quicker than the Porsche.
I wouldn't want either cars, but the Porsche is certainly a lot more impressive to me.
Yeah, I’m sure you wouldn’t want either of those cars.... I believe you, honestFair enough the Porsche is turbocharged, but I would have expected the Lambo to be substantially quicker than the Porsche.

Porsche and Lamborghini are all part of the VW group.
Porsche and Lamborghini are not at war, they're doing this to grab headlines. Whilst there is no doubt that the engineering in both cars is simply incredible, the marketing team is working just as hard.

I wonder what kind of time the Senna can post, also the upcoming AMG thing with the F1 engine
I reckon the Senna’s gonna be inside 6’30”, if they can find a driver with sufficiently large cojones. How well does Bruno know the ‘ring? All bets are off for the AMG thing and the Valkyrie though, well into the 5s I’d have thought, closer to the mad 919 Evo than any current road car. Take an F1 car as a base, then put back in the active aero, active suspension and all the other things that have been banned from racing over the years, with concessions only to the tyres and ultimate G-forces.
As others have said, we should all be grinning from ear to ear that thousands of engineers in a dozen different companies think making cars go faster is a good thing.

Ridiculous that people still call the original HP lap time BS...
Taking nothing away from the GT2RS that is an incredible time, i remember when the GT2's were classed as almost undriveable due to the boost, weight balance etc...
Really pleased that Aventador has went all out to get the record... This record may stand for a long long time for being fastest N/A production car of all time around the Ring!!!
Ferrari and Lamborghini have now said the V12's time is pretty much over... be interesting to see if the 812 run out will attempt a ring time... a few years off now i imagine.
Also pleased its now confirmed its called the Jota..
Especially as i bought V12 JOT as a gamble earlier in the year... wonder what value it has
Any takers??

I have severe doubts about this "claim"
Lambo`s track record in this area, is highly dubious at best..
1) - the last attempt was utter BS. sped up video, badly cut and a complete con.
1 - if it was sped up, you better let the official record keepers know, because it stands. So you must know more than those who analyse the footage.Lambo`s track record in this area, is highly dubious at best..

Surely if you were going for some sort of official record all the cars would need to be driven on the same day
Manufacturers hire the circuit, time themselves and release a lap time. If we're lucky we get a video too. There is no regulation of what specification car is being tested, or whether it represents true production specification. Some manufacturers are more honest in this regard than others. It's all just a bit of fun willy-waving, but the process fails as a scientific test at just about every stage. If you want a more 'scientifically' credible comparison then the Sport Auto laps are more important than the manufacturers' own. Each car is independently tested (and usually weighed and dynoed) and lapped with the same driver.
Oh, and when you say 'he mentions' and 'he means' you mean 'you', as it's your own post that you're attempting to clarify, not somebody else who you think agrees with you.

Excellent registration mark, I am sure you will do well on that one especially if you bought it directly from the DVLA not at significant a premium someone else. I don’t know if I have got a SVJ build slot yet (I have my deposit in). I may well be interested in it if I get one.

The Performante time has been verified by those involved and those that matter, such as Racelogic. Hence the time stands. There is no debate about that.
Anyone who thinks otherwise should have a break from the internet for a while.
Absolutely agree. I am genuinely blown away that people think that the lap time is fake. Anyone who thinks otherwise should have a break from the internet for a while.
You just need to drive one of the things to believe it.... it’s beyond words.

Wow what a time.
For something on the porky side weighing around 1.7ton that's incredible. The downforce, tyres and brakes must be immense.
Well the SV with the same quoted 'dry' weight has been weighed in by mags at 1821kg according to the EU definition, which is incl. 75kg driver and the weight standard used for most new cars today. (Edit considering that roll cage probably ups the weight again, the time is actually very impressive for such big lump... For something on the porky side weighing around 1.7ton that's incredible.
