No one owner other than a pro driver will even get near this laptime.

I sat next to a 8:35 sec driver and saw how insanely slow most 'Ring-traffic is.

99% of people wouldn’t get close that’s for sure
But at least people can push on knowing that the car will pretty much corner quicker and brake later than you have the balls to do so..

I 100% agree with this, although I'm not sure why that matters? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears (Again, please correct me if I'm wrong) that you're effectively saying "this car is pointlessly quick because owners won't go anywhere as what this pro driver has done".....you could basically apply that logic to just about any car, be it a performance car or not.

fking amazing. Glad the Avendator has taken the mantel back from the Huracan. The V12 should be the daddy. Just hope it doesn't turn out to be fabricated like last time.
What, VAG fabricate evidence? They'd never do that surely scratchchin

Or indeed anything at all...

There's no point in me cycling to work, because I'll never cycle as fast as Chris Froome
No point in my going for a swim this morning because I didn't swim as fast as the Thorpedo
No point in me f*cking Mrs C tonight because... (well, y'all already get the point smile )

I agree! The quickest I have driven it (and that's only BTG) was 8.20. I am sure there was 10sec more in the car, but in me as I would not want to drive faster there, irrespective of car. The closing speeds vs other cars become somewhat scary, not to mention how much closer some of the barriers seem.

On the above comments on my comment: I'm afraid a lot of buyers could think they become superheroes in one of these.

A mate who does excellent tuition only works with folk that start Zandvoort in a humble 328i... and then get scared! No need to kill yourself in a 600 brake Turbo, so they leave their own cars on the Zandvoort parking.

It's amazing what one can do with only a handfull of horses. Having said that, speed is speed and ramming a barrier with 60 or 160 is different world.

Anyone who ever had the opportunity to sit next to a pro driver on a track knows what I'm saying. The limits of the car can be far away, that doesn't mean an inexperienced driver turns into a complete know while spinning at high speed or losing grip in a 160 mph corner...

I drove AMG GT guns and hipo Porsche and it's scary how easy they drive compared to a 70s Ferrari or 930. In those old beasts I know when I'm close to dead. In moderns I haven't a clue. Not yet...

Realistically, if you're planning on doing anything like sub 8:30 full lap, you need to do a track day. To be doing around 8mins or under in any car, you're fairly on it to the point that you'd be relying on a tourist driver to reliably get out of the way if you approached them.

Good lap. Definitely not as on it as the GT3RS or GT2 RS laps, but very impressive for a 4WD 1700kg supercar. Friend of mine drove a HP at Silverstone a couple of months ago and fully believed it could do the time it did. Phenomenal traction and incredible stability.

You haven't, in my opinion, really clarified my question. Do you mean to say that these cars are pointless, or that they should only be able to be purchased by those with a great level of driving ability?

If so I totally disagree with you smile

Well, never mind the naysayers, I doff my cap to anyone who can get an Aventador around there in that time. Its not exactly a small car is it..!

Kudos to Lambo and Porsche. None of the other supercar makers have a time to back up their claims, at least they're both going for it. As for the Huracan, I was interested to see that in last week's Autocar, the 911GT2RS couldn't get near its dry lap record. Admittedly on inferior tyres, but Autocar are pretty certain it wouldn't have matched the lap time even on equivalent rubber.

Pointless exercise, just like a Lambo needs. The engine sound is epic - almost opera singer like

Nothing is pointless - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georges_Bataille - and I love a Lambo. As Brundle showed in a Supercar vid ages ago: even an 18 year old can drive one. Just don't buy one to show you're some kind of superhuman please. It will kill you and harm others.

I agree with Harris about the 'Ring nonsense.

Proper st your pants video. Seems to be on the verge of going straight to the scene of the accident on several occasions. What is all the banging - bottoming out?

Excellent.

roflrofl

As deluded as the daft vlogger that "analysed" that lap video in the first place - who incidentally is the only person that won't be trying "the same shenanigans" this time around after his credibility in that vlog was shot down in flames, by verified VBOX data and proper analysis. But you know, movingtreeshadows (also known as the "wind")

‘Interesting’ driving-style / set-up - it seems very twitchy at the rear during braking, and he doesn’t half chuck it in when entering slow corners. Understeer set-up?

how are people criticizing this on a website devoted to motoring? Not impressive? What?!
A manufacturer goes out to build a stupidly fast car, then goes to the ring to do what the car was built to do, for what purpose? Just because they can,. I hope to see more of these in future.

Interesting that the Lambo drops into the karusell (spelling?) on this lap and from momory, the driver of the GT2 doesn’t on its record lap?

Interesting in that I wonder which route is fastest?

You’d think there’d be the quickest line through there and that’s that and they would all take it?

No, all that shows is man v downforce. Which is very quick but almost too boring.

This shows man v machine. How can you judge this lap as uninteresting, do you just watch the clock ticking down?

His tyres went off again towards the end of the lap again after his last Aventador outing, but hung on better. He really bunged it into some of the corners too with this lovely NA dinosaur of a car. Times will always come down but how you do it is what matters. It is admiring the driver or rider.

There is someone helping out at the moment, it's Jesus.

Never seen so many blue skies over this track in years. Thank you Jesus. Other manufacturers need to get their Sennas etc down their pronto before it starts to rain again and the ark needs building ..... smile
