The Huracan's lap was demonstrably falsified. Video's on Youtube break it down.
This might be my favourite internet quote for some time.

There is someone helping out at the moment, it's Jesus.

Never seen so many blue skies over this track in years. Thank you Jesus. Other manufacturers need to get their Sennas etc down their pronto before it starts to rain again and the ark needs building ..... smile
Bless you my son

Watching these makes me wonder what will stop this obsession with "Ring Times" and I worry that it is a fatality. That was what killed the GP there (well a near fatality) and I fear it might the same with these runs. It just takes one error and even the best make mistakes.

Well didn't Koenigsegg have a nasty crash with their One:1? Perhaps I am overstating it slightly, but they've not been back since.

At the end of the day, the drivers and manufacturers are not dumb. They will be very very aware of the risks going into it, they will take the necessary precautions and safety measures.

So if everyone is a consenting adult, and in the right frame of mind, is it a problem? I'm not so sure it is.

Most impressive lap time and video still belongs to a Citroen AX... 😏

No one owner other than a pro driver will even get near this laptime.

I sat next to a 8:35 sec driver and saw how insanely slow most 'Ring-traffic is.
I agree! The quickest I have driven it (and that's only BTG) was 8.20. I am sure there was 10sec more in the car, but in me as I would not want to drive faster there, irrespective of car. The closing speeds vs other cars become somewhat scary, not to mention how much closer some of the barriers seem.
Realistically, if you're planning on doing anything like sub 8:30 full lap, you need to do a track day. To be doing around 8mins or under in any car, you're fairly on it to the point that you'd be relying on a tourist driver to reliably get out of the way if you approached them.
I agree, this was on a DN day although I have run very quiet TF laps in the evening but wouldn't time them, not that I time very often, even on TDs.

Cool video! Good effort Lamborghini.

I completely disagree with Harris (and James May) about the ‘Ring nonsense’.

Well, most traffic got out of the way and you would too if a very quick driver was to approach you! After the lap I got out, puked twice and had a tea in the shade for 30 mins while the driver got out to do a 10/10s lap... Note: the guy had 1000+ 'Ring laps under his belt and the car was a 600 brake GT. Happy days.

Surely its more about who has the test driver with the biggest balls? And tyres...

The whole thing has become nonsense. The ring is such a long track and has so many variables that noone will ever get the perfect lap consistently. As a result, you might be pitching a perfect lap vs not-so-perfect-lap. All for marketing purposes only. Ring records are becoming a popular bragging right for manufacturers in the same way as M sport badges.

I have severe doubts about this "claim"

Lambo`s track record in this area, is highly dubious at best..

1) - the last attempt was utter BS. sped up video, badly cut and a complete con.
2) - no way on earth this is a 100% street legal car you could buy/order in a showroom today
3) - tyres !

it has exactly the opposite effect of "brand image" when you are called out for something that maybe be BS and cant be proved.
you just look dishonest and silly and lose all credibility.

why not just do what Porsche did, and release the video straight away, with complete proof and answer any questions and confirm the tyre street legal tread and compounds.

at least that way people might believe you...

its BS, until 100% proof is provided
Probably the stupidest comment I've read on PH this year.

It would be a very boring website if we can only talk about cars you can afford.

I find it quite astounding how easy the driver seems to have to work. Not belittling him at all, just think the car is incredible that to do that lap time he's working a lot less than I thought he would have to.
Bravo Lambo!! C'mon Macca with the Senna.

you're in such a minority that vocalizing your opinion here is further wasting your time, the vast majority of us here enjoy reading about fast exotic cars.

Yep. I'll never be able to afford one, but I still find it fascinating to see and read about.

The 'Ring is an odd track. A driver with knowledge of the track, can be quicker than one with just talent, but the talented driver can get the track knowledge really easily.

I don't really buy this whole 'you can't possibly be quick until you've done more than 5000 laps' or that it's somehow impressive to have done X hundred laps/gives you some right to look down on newbies/people who've only done 20. I've been lucky enough to do loads of laps through my job, but me and my friend went last year (he's done a lot of professional racing but had never driven a lap of the 'Ring) and I've no doubt he'd be perfectly capable of racing there with a couple more days and maybe another 15 laps or so. You simply don't need hundreds of laps to learn any track, even if it is the 'Ring.

What's really evident though in all the lap attempts, is that everyone shares the important 'push here', 'always lift here', 'don't brake here' knowledge. I suspect mainly because to learn the place, you simply have to go round with someone who has experience....who probably learnt of someone else who had experience, etc etc. Of course it takes balls (or a lack of imagination which is how I tend to think of it) to drive a really fast car there, but that's the same as any track. Literally any racing driver/test driver will be within a few seconds of each other around there.

But you're totally right about tyres....

"Although the 700hp machine has been set up especially for the Nürburgring by Manthey-Racing,"

Hmmm ... purpose built to tramp round the ring Vs car that is standard (well about as standard as a Jota can get). Not really equal is it.
