What's it made of? Depleted uranium?
Well, a 2006 Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG came in at 1960kgs so I'd say a twin turbo V12 comfortable GT at 1845kgs isn't doing too badly. What's it made of? Depleted uranium?

SL55 was convertible was a hard-top roof though so not really comparing like for like. But no, 1845kgs not too bad for a big GT IMO.
Fair enough, I was trying to be nice - let's then go with a SL65 Black Series which is actually closer to this DBS as it too had a twin turbo V12 and a fixed carbon fibre roof with no convertible gubbins; that car is 1870kgs! That's a 2-seater versus a 2+2/4-seater...Edited by sidesauce on Thursday 2nd August 12:47

Henry Catchpole has it up on Carfection for anyone interested.
Carfection is my first port of call for new car features. Different league to the Youtubers reviews. In respect to the DBS, it’s gorgeous and it will sell. Hypothetically I would take it over the fussy Ferrari and the chintzy looking Bentley as I imagine at this level you’ll probably have the spare change for something more focused as a fast road / track toy.

I don't mind the looks (prefer the Aston), and RE the image, I couldn't care less what other people perceive me to be if they make judgements on an individual purely based upon the car they drive. I certainly wouldn't spend around £200k on something that wasn't the best and I wasn't entirely satisfied with it when there's something better out there just because someone else I've never met might think I'm a footballer or something!
"Best" is highly subjective and for some people the image *is* a consideration as it can limit how/what you can do with the car. If you're looking at numerical measures but who cares about 0.1 sec difference on 0-60 or slightly sharper track handling? At that price point I doubt many are single car owners... so you choose your car based on what you're doing that day.hondansx said:
Whilst I'm here on my soapbox, I see the 812 has had wonderful reviews as expected. In between the praising of the drivetrain, I read about the iffy driving position and droney exhaust. And yet, of course, it scores maximum points.
Here's where I would be interested to know if the Aston fights back - on actually living with the thing. I think the issue is the journos get the car for a day and don't have time to do anything other than tell us what it's like to drive flat out. The DBS and 812 are not track day cars and should be assessed as the every day cars the makers intend them to be.
Ah, but at that level do buyers *really* care about what the journos think? With the right commute, I daresay that a DBS would make a sublime every day proposition... yet I can't imagine falling in love with an 812, even it if was "better" in the eyes of a journo. Here's where I would be interested to know if the Aston fights back - on actually living with the thing. I thought that digital speedo readings went out with 1980s Opel Senators. I thought we all learned that you had to read the bloody things rather
than just glance at them, a bit like reading a digital watch as opposed to glancing at dials.
Fairly commonplace for the last 15+ years? Aston themselves have certainly had them on everything they’ve made since the DB9...than just glance at them, a bit like reading a digital watch as opposed to glancing at dials.
