RE: Maserati MC12: Showpiece of the Week

Nobody has mentioned the frankly absurd price for this, 2.5 million, I’m sorry but for that money, you can buy a 918, 458 speciale aperta, GT3 RS, a F430 Scuderia 16M and throw in a new Phantom for luck.
I know you’re not supposed to do that, however I can’t help but think that this is really over priced considering the badge, I’d understand an Enzo, but not this.

I have a vague memory of one of these on Fifth Gear (?) being track tested in the snow and being binned by it's owner...
Yeah I think that was the day he collected it too I got to have a good look around one of these in the Ferrari dealership in Toronto, amazingly good looking machines IMO and would have one in preference to an Enzo

Yes you're right, but I'd rather have a pair of common projects speakers than a pair of Nike Air Max...I know you’re not supposed to do that, however I can’t help but think that this is really over priced considering the badge, I’d understand an Enzo, but not this.
The “Corsa” version got a bit out of shape going up the Goodwood hillclimb this year. And sounds incredible. https://youtu.be/IKTtETfFqTI

If somebody is willing to pay that price then that's the value of the car.I know you’re not supposed to do that, however I can’t help but think that this is really over priced considering the badge, I’d understand an Enzo, but not this.
Moaning about the 'absurd' prices of collector cars/supercars is one of my pet hates.

I think we've reached a new meta where the term 'The term 'race car for the road' is vastly overused these days' is itself the overused term. In the last 24 hours I've heard it used in reference to:
- Maserati MC12
- McLaren Senna
- McLaren F1
- F40
Using it in the case of the F1 is particularly bad given that it is literally not a racecar for the road having been designed as a road car in the first place. - Maserati MC12
- McLaren Senna
- McLaren F1
- F40

Only watched about half of that before getting the sts.It sounds loud, sure, but in a strangled kind of way. And it didn't seem to really be going all that fast. Sure, it got a bit out of shape at one point, but the kids down at McDonald's do that too at 15 mph, so I wouldn't put too much emphasis on that.
Disappointing.

It’s a shame not all your posts are as funny as Subaru pricing vs inflation.
