As soon as you see 'rare 2.7' you know that the author didnt know what he was talking about, and expect the same trite cliches nd repeated bks.

Rather like the 'rare 1986 Turbo'.

I did the same 996tt and 944t I loved both to be fair but similarly my problem with the 996 was it's too competent on the road and heavy for track day use leading to big bills. I think all things considered the 944t makes a better buy for smiles per mile and the odd track day.
It was a ride in your 996tt that made me decide against one. I wouldn't mind buying it for £25k today though.

Yes. Funnily enough the back to back ride in your 944t and again in Simon P's car at Silverstone have cemented themselves in my memory when comparing to other hot metal. It just didn't feel a dissapointment at all.

The 3.2ltr turbos really were different animals, they deserve their own category but for a strait and simple 2.5ltr. That tuning point 320-350hp is just the perfect sweet spot for the car.

I love that you still have yours. I'm on my 51st car now smile

I can't remember how many cars I've had, 40+ probably. I kept my 3dr Cosworth for 13 years and now the 944t for 10. I've got nearly everything in the garage to build a torque monster 3.0 engine. but the original 2.5 is just under 100k miles and still going strong.
I was offered one of the 3.2's for a very good price 3 or 4 years ago....

Did you drive it? It's a different experience to own vs a standard car. More like a racecar for the gentleman driver than a replacement for the standard car but I'm not sure I'll forget wheelspin in 4th up a damp hill or feeling constantly like I'm in third and realising that it's 5th.

We should meet up for a coffee some time. I'll PM you.

I didn't drive it in the end, a couple of people suggested there was more development and money needed to finish it. Plus if you're spending big using a 16v head seemed mechanically better.
