Yeah, I know. And you’re right. I generally try not to do that kind of thing. And maybe it was the coffee as the other guy said.

But honestly - what is it about Saab people? I get it; they were innovative in some things. But time moves on. Literally no one under 35 even knows what a Saab is. Get over it.

thanks, I feel much better for that.
I think there are still people who think back and wonder what might have been tbh. I had an Aero estate and there was lots to like about it but ultimately it started letting us down so it was chopped in for a 100% reliable Volvo XC, which marque is, of course, prospering like never before.

Out of interest, how much does it cost you to insure? I sometimes wonder about giving my Octavia a remap but I'm not keen to pay the same every year to insure it... Did it add much to your premium?
We have a family fleet policy so not sure exactly how much the Octavia costs to insure but it's around the £200 mark. The remap didn't add anything to the premium. thumbup

Is this a stretched version of the Passat platform? Does it share it with anything else like the longer VW Caddy variant?

I really like the Superb. I drove a Sportline 190 TDI not so long ago and it was very impressive, there just arn't many used knocking around at the moment.

Actually, is the suspension exactly the same? Or is there some difference between versions that I haven't twigged.

And I thought they handled quite well, bearing in mind it's no Elise and has a lot of weight to swing round corners.
Sportline sits 15mm lower and is firmer. Should reduce some of the body roll.

What's real-world on these, I wonder?

Not really- people lose that and more on PCP/Lease, so its no different really.

Which I can absolutely believe*. What's your regular mpg when not doing 300 mile runs?

  • Our Saab Aero was always in its element doing those, and produced remarkable numbers, too.

Mine averaged 36.4mpg from delivery miles to when it got killed by a HGV 7 weeks and 4,133 miles later.

The majority of the driving was on motorway and fast A roads.

Similar comments apply. Not knocking it, btw, more the article's naive assertion.

Wtf is it with Saab obsessives every time? Have none of then got any idea how sad this comment sounds outside of their special Saab fanatic safe space? They might as well blurt our that they love wearing latex and licking toes.

There is no sensible comparison between this car and a bloody Saab from 20 years ago. Get over it.
Rather unnecessary, I thought.
yeah sounds very anti-SAAB. not sure what is sad about it or whats to "get over".

I agree, he was a bit of a bell. Everyone pop your opinions back in their packages, someone might have an aneurysm...

Firstly, I’m 31 & have owned a turbo Saab 8 years or so back & it was cool.

Secondly, I’m in no way a Saab nut, or a weird beard. Just saying, if you want a car that looks like a bag of turd but goes like the aforementioned off a shovel, they’re not a bad bet.

Thirdly, I hope the coffee has worked, or you wife is gonna be really bruised by now...

No. I’m of course I’m not anti-Saab, whatever that means. I’m anti sad old men banging on about 20 year old Saab cars being better than anything ever invented ever including all the stuff being invented now. They’re not. And you’re not impressing anyone apart from the other boring old men who also love their Saabs. Every other human being just politely nods and thinks “wow that guy’s really boring banging on about his crap old car”.

...and breathe...
This is actually quite cathartic, thanks for the opportunity.

Guess that goes for anyone who like classics of any sort. Because a McLaren F1 is a few years old and isn’t the best thing ever I contend it’s boring I assume. Bet you’re fun at parties!

About 22 lol ! In the cars defense it's a hilly stop start 3 mile trip to work and back. Only just gets upto temp.

I have taken it out in the the wilds and given it a proper hammering to see just how much fuel I could use. All 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear stuff.

Couldn't get it below 22 no matter how I tried.

No one invites me to parties and I don’t know why...

No of course I don’t think that of classics or anyone who likes classics of any sort, don’t be absurd!

There’s just something about Saab owners that’s wierd. People who are Vegan, do CrossFit, or have ever driven a Saab they’ll bang on about how much better it is than what anyone else does at ANY opportunity. Bore off!!
