Given the move away from diesel and small numbers of cars I think it will hold its value well.
I bought a previous generation 2012, 2.0T Estate, a year ago, anything coming on the market was being sold straight away after being advertised around £12k - so by that logic, the 280 model should still fetch £11-12k in 3 years time...
The previous model is great, and mine has had a bit of help from Shark. The bloke at Shark told me the 280 was the Golf R engine and it would Remap straight away to 350bhp. With 4x4, I think that would be enough for most circumstances!
