I had a CTR years ago. I remember buying a whole interior, inlet manifold and headlights from a JDM one from the guys at Synchro Motorsport at the Swindon factory. They had pallets of the things as I think they used the JDM cars as shells for the BTCC cars of the time.
Love stories like this For that sort of money I would expect it to not be missing the lower splitter lip bit that sits at the bottom of the front bumper (which I think it is)
I love my ep3 despite its flaws and would like a Japanese model, but I already think the premium people expect over a uk model is too much for something with normal mileage and so in my view this is just silly money.
I hope and expect someone will find this post in about 5 years when it’s up for £30k and laugh at me.

"JDM cars used Japan-built K20A four-cylinders (rather than UK made ones)"
Just to quote an inaccuracy in the original story, ALL k20 engines were produced in Japan. There were/are none that are uk made from new.
Are you sure? I was always under the impression that the K20A2 is UK built and the K20A was built in Japan and sent over for assembly.Just to quote an inaccuracy in the original story, ALL k20 engines were produced in Japan. There were/are none that are uk made from new.
Always happy to be educated though.
Nice to see some positive comments on here. When this article was featured on Facebook yesterday it was mostly “these are outdated bla bla bla” type stuff from the usual FB trolls.
In the current market when mk4 xr3is are up for sale at £10,000 this doesn’t seem so expensive. At least theJDM ep3 can still cut it in 2018. Fastest laps.com has the TSukuba lap time for the JDM civic as faster than an m235i so not a slow car!

Totally agree, you can add everything that makes the JDM version better to the UKDM version for less than half the price, plenty of nicely modified examples around.I love my ep3 despite its flaws and would like a Japanese model, but I already think the premium people expect over a uk model is too much for something with normal mileage and so in my view this is just silly money.

It’s a nice example, but I’d much rather have one of these...
Best of the bunch IMO, got the K20 and 6 Speed LSD box, but didn’t lose the double wishbone suspension like the EP3 and DC5.
Completely agree and don't know why they're not more popular, The c.200kg weight penalty is an obstacle for me personally though over the other two. Mr Ichishima preferred the Euro R too.Best of the bunch IMO, got the K20 and 6 Speed LSD box, but didn’t lose the double wishbone suspension like the EP3 and DC5.

Didn’t get the looks, 3 door body, or the practicality (hatch) of the DC5 or EP3 though.
Bound to be heavier too? It’s great that it exists, but the market for those is severely limited.
It’s essentially the Accord Type R Mk2. Everyone that has owned the original (myself included) can’t recommend them enough, so I’d say there is definitely a market for them, even despite the additional weight.Bound to be heavier too? Ridiculous price, at that much money surely everyone would just want to buy an imported integra Type R instead, or a imported 5 door civic type r which is more unique,...or plenty of other imports. you'd have to seriously be crazy in love with a civic to want that.
Hence why it’s not been sold to a private buyer since it came here 3 years ago. They’re great cars in their own right, but at £14-15k there are better options right now.I think you mean the 4 door FD2, rather than 5 door though.
