RE: Lamborghini Urus: Driven

The Huracan 5.2 V10 would have not been the right engine for this car - not enough torque. A V8TT is the obvious choice, especially when it's already installed on this platform.
And that's where they've missed the point for the enthusiast market (which, granted, they're not necessarily targetting): it doesn't need to be a good SUV, it needs to be a Lamborghini, compromises and all. Not a conventionally attractive design, and looks especially bad in Essex White.
I am a complete convert to SUVs though, having ran one of these "unnecessary monsters" for a number of years now. Whilst there's no way I'll ever afford one of these, I can't help liking it. It'll sell like hot cakes, and be the biggest revenue (and profit!) generating Lambo of all time within a very short period.
Love that it's got the Countach LP400 shape on the rear arch, which has been a feature on many Lambos, albeit it makes the gap between the wheel and the front of the arch look comically tight .......... Poor design from a mud clearance perspective, and sure to be a problem on the trails!

The mass market aren't going to tolerate a normally aspirated V10 that you need to thrash the sh!t out of to get it to make it's power and haul the car along, when they can have a turbo V8 making the same power, and combined with sledgehammer low down torque.
V10 would be nice to have as an option, however big heavy car needs a big solid slug of torque to shove it along.

Just what I've been waiting for. Finally there's a car on the road I can buy that will make me look like an even bigger c**t than I currently do in my Bentley Bentayga.
Don't dismiss the Rolls Royce Cullinane for that duty! Surely that is the absolutely pinnacle of c@#tdom!Not my type of vehicle, not my price-range so please feel free to dismiss, but I'd take a wafty Range Rover if I had to be in the target group as how much of the speed/acceleration can you actually achieve on 90% of usable public roads with four people on board being scared silly?
The interior and engine bay look like a games console to me, I must just be getting old and staid.

So much hate from sad people on here. I mean "If people insist on driving these overweight monstrosities" I mean, come on. We all like different things. It's not to my taste but jeez, if someone wants it, then fair play. At least you can see them in car park spaces....unlike little cars which you don't, you approach and think "oooh, there's a space" only to find it's been filled with a stupid MX-5

I hate it because it's a VAG clone, not because it's an SUV.The world would be a brighter and wackier place if Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini and VAG had all been individual manufacturers solving the SUV in their own idiosyncratic ways. As we have it, they're given a platform and some transmission hardware by Daddy and told do what you can with that.

Don’t you hate that. Short lived euphoria, leading to contempt and muttering I don't get all the hate?!? I'm not fussed on it but I don't hate it, the exterior can look smart (compared to say a Bentayga / Q7) in the right colour but its the OTT modern style of the interior that puts me right off. If I had to have one it would be in this colour with all the silver bits done in black:-

Don't worry. Your narrowmindedness, bitterness and the size of the chip on your shoulder already make you look like one without the help of any car.Porridge GTI said:

I find cars like the Hyundai i30N more interesting.
Really? Perhaps you're in the wrong place with that mindset. Whilst possibly not something I aspire to, it is certainly a more interesting creation than any Hyundai.I find cars like the Hyundai i30N more interesting.

Pushing on in the Urus is not unlike watching an enormous CGI battle scene; all the right components have been expensively assembled for your enjoyment, but then it all happens too fluently and fiercely for its own good and you find yourself thinking about cheese nachos.
THIS is a PH metaphor Mr Cackett, this is the tone you're looking for on here. 10/10Thought that the Bentley vs Nomad vs 570S was much better, if still a bit fussy at points, but this is the sort of straight forward talk and humour that we like on here.
