RE: Lamborghini Urus: Driven

If you need an explanation of why the the LM002 is seriously cool and the Urus is ghastly, you really don't get cars.
The 002 is an actual off-roader, that is designed with off-roading first & foremost, in that respect it's like the G-Wagen. Whereas the Urus (keep wanting to say urine or uranus) is more of a soft-roader. I'm sure if you threw another £200k at it it could be made into a fairly capable thing, though. Mackofthejungle said:

What a load of tosh. From the posts on here you'd think the Urus drives exactly like the Bentley Bentayga!? Have any of you read how it drives? Do you think the Urus shares the exact same suspension set up, interior, body, wheels, brakes and exact same engine spec as every other VW?!
If it doesn't drive exactly like the Bentley then they've only wasted their money. Nobody is buying this because of the way it drives. Or looks. Or feels, or smells. It's a car for eejits. Your post stinks of jealousy. I love how you draw conclusions of the personality of the buyers just because they're buying this car.
PH has become a place full of tts who are incredibly judgemental and childish.

I sincerely hope you re-read this and relish how one sentence alone can carry so much irony.PH is a forum, the very forum, where people can and should express opinions about cars. You might not agree with all of them, how they've been formulated or expressed, however you ought to respect the right for them to be expressed, however disagreeable they might be to you.

didn't Valentino Balboni want to make a Lambo 4x4 as his retirement swan song but got shut down by Lambo so made a 2wd Gallardo instead
Oh no, what an eejit! If my numbers came up (and I did the lottery) I am sure a big SUV would be one of my car purchases, as money was no object I would certainly test all the contestants including this, a Bentayga, Cayenne, RR etc and pick which ever one was most fun.
Could well be the Urus
But I cannot afford so good luck to all those who can

Not sure why it had to be so polar, I can appreciate both, I will never own either but though I like the LM, I know it’s a bit rubbish, the Urus will at least work as a car, has had some thought about ergonomics and is properly fast. What I was getting at was that old stuff seems to get a pass, the flaws get overlooked and the new stuff gets slagged off, am sure the LM would have come in for some stick when it was new.
If you had to choose one, you actually had to use, would you really choose the LM ?

Silly comparison, Urus is a modern car the wealthy wife can drive every day
The LM is a classic car, for weekends and fun days and for old school brute fun, it will cost a fortune to run and will be a labour of love
That’s the point, you don’t need to choose one and say the other is rubbish. The LM is a classic car, for weekends and fun days and for old school brute fun, it will cost a fortune to run and will be a labour of love
Not sure why the Urus is for the “Wealthy wife”, bit Al Murray that isn’t it ?
I bet the Urus is actually epic, despite being Audi based, cynical or whatever, life is too short to worry about a shared platform here and there.
Weird thing is, been in Italy all week, not seen a single Ferrari or Lambo, that seems weird, couple of Porsche’s, they really all must be in Cheshire.
Not even seen any Fiat 500s

It's so worth noting your comment says PH is a forum where people express opinions about cars.... That is fine, some people like and dislike this car, that is fine.... But the problem is that people are judging the people who will buy this car. That's not discussing the car, it's being judgemental about people they have no idea about purely based on whether they buy a certain car.

If it weren’t for shared platforms there would be a comparatively small choice of options in the market. Most people have no idea just how much money it costs to design and manufacture a modern automobile. The investments made by the manufacturers are astronomical. Platform sharing is the only viable economic way of offering a wide array of choices at affordable prices.
Certainly the notion of developing a bespoke V12 for the Urus is ridiculous. If that were a criteria for this vehicle, it would never have got past the first meeting, and would not exist. Clearly that would make some folk happy, as apparently less choice is a good thing

Kenny your common sense is not welcome here Certainly the notion of developing a bespoke V12 for the Urus is ridiculous. Thanks for the link. Personally I wasn’t initially a fan, but it looks rather striking in those darker colours! Fair play to anyone in the position to buy one. If I had the necessary disposable cash, I’d order one maxed-up and parade it around a PH meet whilst waving wads of cash around and shouting “looooadsamoneeaaay!”

Being a PH meet, you'd blend right in with all the other powerfully built wad-wavers. Nobody'd notice. Fair play to anyone in the position to buy one. If I had the necessary disposable cash, I’d order one maxed-up and parade it around a PH meet whilst waving wads of cash around and shouting “looooadsamoneeaaay!”
Try the local Stance Kru meet down Maccers, you'd have better results.
